This is the WAO II That I built
The WAO II is a small programmable robot. It is Easy to program and fairly easy to build. The kit comes in two different versions, the first requires soldering and the second doesn't, but otherwise they are virtually the same robot.
This robot is a good beginner robot because it isn't too hard to build and program. It also is a good learning expirience for beginners because it has electronic, mechanical, and programming aspects involved in building the kit
The WAO II has a couple of problems: is it's inability for expansion, it would be nice to be able to add more sensors. It also has a rather small memory: it will only hold 24 commands.
The robot's design also incorporates a centrally located pen holder, and with the pen it can draw lines, circles, or whatever you program it to draw. It also has 3 preprogrammed routines: a timer, dice, and roulette. When the timer button is pressed the robot's lights and motors turn off and it doesn't move for the amount of time you entered. The dice program draws random numbers. The roulette program will make the robot spin and gradually slow down and stop.
The robot comes with a very good 60 page instruction manual. The instructions go in depth about programming and assembly, and it covers some electronics theory. The instructions also explain the mechanical parts of the robots.
This is a good beginners robot kit, but doesn't have room for expansion. It is a nice little robot and the ability for it to draw is kind of cool.
