Our Goals:

Hello and Welcome to our farm! Take a look around...

Hello and Welcome to RAK Appaloosas. So what exactly does RAK stand for you might ask? It is our initials, Rebecca & Alan- it is also our son's initials. We run a small-scale breeding operation in East Central MN. Our no.1 goal is to promote and perpetuate the App. breed. We raise horses with correct conformation & above all, great disposition, because let's face it- nobody likes a crabby horse.

We want to share our love of the App. breed by raising and selling horses for the public to enjoy. Whether your interests are western pleasure, working cattle, trail riding, jumping or driving, we can produce that little beauty you've been dreaming of.

Our horses are very special to us and we want them to have loving, caring homes. We want a customer to purchase a horse from us and say, "ya know what, that's the best darn horse I ever bought." Sure you can sell any old horse to someone, but we believe in the old ideals of keeping your word, so our horses will be advertised accurately :)

We are in the early stages of setting up our ranch. Right now we've got a great start with our new stud colt Ace- a stunning black and white- and our 4 mares (2 of which have foundation bloodlines). Stock for sale will vary so please check our "For Sale" page for updates.

Who We Are:

My name is Rebecca, I've been in the saddle since I was 12 years old (born in '82). I have a strong background in English riding. I've shown my QH mare "Dust of Honey" in hunter classes. Our forte was eq. under saddle and we also showed over fences. I've since become interested in Appaloosas after meeting my fiance & his horses.

Alan is the horse trainer/handyman and farrier of RAK. He trains horses to ride and drive. He enjoys building/restoring wagons. Our horses pull a restored Minnesota spreader. The way he figures it, the horses help make the mess, they can help clean up (lol). He also broke out a team of Belgian drafts and uses them for logging.

K's Hair Trigger

This is our do-anything gelding, Trigger. He gives pony rides, works cattle and he's also broke to drive in a team. He's also got two blue eyes, which is hard to come across, but we love him because he's a sweetheart who doesn't let ya down.
*Never for sale, so don't ask*

Horsey Humor: featuring Baxter Black

I would like to talk to you about a certain kind of person that ranks in my mind with duck hunters. Now, don't get your gander up, I'm not gonna say anything about duck hunters. After all, what can you say about someone who gets up in the middle of the night, in the middle of the winter, then goes out and stands in water all day, up to his buckle and then... shoots a duck.

But I'm not talkin' about duck hunters, no... the kinda people I'm talkin' about are horse people. Yes, you may have one in your family. You know it when you sit down at the table with a horse person because the first thing they start talkin' about is horses. On and on and on. And if there's two of 'em you might as well get up and leave 'cause you aren't gonna get a word in edgewise.
