'Tis an Angel under Cover production. Written by Dewin Duvae. Disclaimer: I own all the characters mentioned. Nintendo and Gamefreak own the names, pokeball and pokedex. Psidyke, milkmaid and milktit are twisted versions of pokemon and this is a completely different universe from the one described in Gregg Sharps Pokegirls & Wild Horses. (Except of course that it's just the same.) Pkgrl - Family matters 6 A bigger family ------------------------------ The hallway was quiet. Too quiet. Dust could be seen swirling about in the light coming from some windows on one end. A door opened at the other and a little boy peeked out. He wore a green sweater with sleaves that were way longer than his arms, some very tight jeans and a pair of dirty old sneakers whose sholaces were tied about three times and still managed to dragg after him. The boy nodded at someone standing outside the door and stepped inside the hallway, pushing the door oh so quietly. He continued to look around the room as inconspicously as possible. Wich meant he might as well have been wearing a fedora and a trenchcoat. Wich was funny, because the little girl that peeked out soon after and joined him was wearing a fedora and a trenchoat, perfectly sized for her. They were colored a somewhat rosy pink. Possibly to suit her pink shades and her black dress shoes. Well, probably not her black dress shoes. Slowly, they looked about the hallway. Hoping to catch any signs of obstacles. Like a grownup, a camera or something else along those lines. The boy, Josh, kept his back firmly to the wall as he krept down the corridor. Then one of his sneakers squeeked as he forgot to lift it off the floor. "Shhh. Your being too loud." Karen, the girl, whispered to him. Josh grunted in responce. He looked around nervously. Nobody had heard it. Well, nobody but them. "I don't like this, it could be a trap." Karen krept closer to him. She nodded in agreement. "It's very quiet. Never too quiet." Josh held one of his sleaves over his face and emitted a muffled groan. "I think that's 'quiet, too quiet'. It's supposed to be dramatic." "I was d'matic." Karen replied sullenly. "I just wasn't beeing too d'matic." "Whatever." Josh waved a sleave at her. "It is quiet though." Suddenly someone screamed. It came from inside a door at the end with all the light. Karen stopped and looked at her brother pointedly. "They're not keeping us from this one!" The quickly leaped at the door and yanked it open. Inside was pandemonium. Tim was standing behind the bed, holding the hand of Harry the Joltina. One nurse Joy was running around with a baby, another one was standing between Harry's legs busily doing something. Harry was the one who had screamed. Her face was an odd shade of purple at the moment and she was very close to screaming things that shouldn't be said near Josh and Karen. Both kids just gaped at the sight. Josh sidled closer to Karen. "What's Duo doing to Harry?" He whispered. Karen smiled. "That's simple. She catches the baby when it comes out." Josh aahed understandingly. "She's called a catcher. Tressie over there is the runner," Karen continued, "she runs with the babies so they get really tired and sleepy. Tim is the idiot. That means that he holds Harrys hands and lets her scream at him so she can work herself up enough to push the babies out. They come out really quickly, which is why the catcher," she pointed to Duo, "has to watch real careful so she doesn't miss them. Dropping babies on the floor is baaad!" "Okay." Josh said looking suspiciously at her. "Where'd you learn all this?" Karen giggled. "Oh, one of the milktits on our farm started getting old and got a kid. Mommy explained everything to me. She used to help the Joys when she was here you know." "Whatever." Josh looked back at the scene wich, in spite of the chaos, hadn't changed that much. "When do you suppose they'll let us see the them?" Karen shrugged noncommittantly. "I dunno. The one at the farm was only one. I think Harry's having twos or threes. She sure is taking time though." Josh waited for a while, then he frowned and turned to her. "Threes?" Karen looked at him in that particular way that a child looks at you when they think you're acting stupid. You know, the one that makes you feel like they're the adult. She said very slowly: "Yes, Josh. Three babies. That's one less than..." she glanced quickly at her hands, "four?" "Karen. I meant the wo--" He stopped and looked up at the figure behind her. "Uhm, hi Uni." Karen turned around just in time to see Uni grabb her coat. "Come on children. I'm sure your father didn't want you here at this moment." "But Uuuuuniiiii." Karen looked up with the most soulfull eyes she could muster. "I wanna see the babies." "I am sure Ms. Harriet will let you see the babies when she is more presentable." Uni replied tonelessly. She carefully closed the door behind them, muffling the sound from inside enough for the corridor to seem as quiet as a graveyard in comparison. Josh tugged on Uni's skirt, making her look down. "Uni, how many babies is Harry going to have?" "There will be three babies. Not uncommon for her breed, even for the pokewomen. But then again, most pokewomen..." Uni's voice grew softer as they let her get further away. "You ready?" Karen whispered to him. "Uhuh." He answered. As one, they opened the door and as one, they were lifted up by their collars. "I see that not even a carrot is going to make you two behave." She shook her head. "Then you have made your choice." Both of them drooped in her grip. Dread was growing in their stomachs. "Children, come with me." Uni carried them away from the operating room. "It's not like we actually did something wrong." Karen grumbled. "Shuush your going to get us into trouble." Karen looked to Josh and pouted. "But I wanted to see the babies come out." "Shuush," he repeated, "Uni where are you taking us?" Uni kept her eyes on the walls as she spoke. "You two should try to remain as quiet as you can. You skipped your lunch. Then you decided not to do your chores. All for this? To see a few kit as they're born? Children will be children I suppose. But in your case it falls on me to make you two better ones." She dropped them on top of their chairs at the dinner table and poured the orangemilk. "Now eat your lunch. I don't know how Josie kept you in line, but until she gets back, we will do things my way. Understand." "Yes Uni." The children chorused. She smiled at the responce and left for whatever work she had interrupted. Karen lifted her spoon and let the soggy flakes dribble off slowly. Sullenly, she looked over to Josh who was staring at the door Uni had closed behind her. "Karen?" He whispered over his shoulder. "How long do you think she'll be gone?" The two of them shared a glance and jumped away from the table as quickly as they could. Josh grabbed the ends of his shoestrings so he wouldn't trip and Karen held her pink fedora in both hands as they ran back to the delivery room. Unfortunately, Tim was standing just outside, making a swift entrance impossible. He seemed to be mumbling something over and over to himself. "Uhm," Josh started, "hi Mister Cunningham. What are you doing out here?" "Huh?" Tim looked down at them. "Oh, nothing. Just waiting for them to let me back inside. Duo felt I was getting in the way so they kicked me out." He smirked, lost in thought. "You?" Karen crossed her arms and pouted. "Uni won't let us see the babies." "Ah." Tim nodded understandingly. "Will you let us see the babies mister Cunningham?" Josh looked at him entreatingly. "I'll be your best friend if you do." "I see." Tim smiled briefly, then he made himself look stern and serious. "Josh Brumbleby. You really swear to be my friend?" Josh nodded. "I do." "Through thick and thin, in spite of girlfriends and distractions?" Josh straightened up, attempting to match Tims seriousness. "I do." "In spite of problems or disasters?" "I swear I'm your friend." Tim slid down the wall and slumped together. "Swing by the mansion at twelve tomorrow. You'll get to see them then." "YES!" Josh pumped his arm. "I get to see the babies!" He ran back to the dinning room. Tim simply smiled and leaned back. "Excuse me." Karen tugged at his arm. Tim closed his eyes contentedly. "Yes, you can see them too." "Yippie!" She jumped up in exitement. "On you way back, tell you brother that my friends call me Tim. Not mister Cunningham." "Okay." She nodded and ran away. Tim just smiled. "To think that I was scared of being a parent. This is going to be a sinch."
