Engineering

Engineers apply math and science to develop solutions to problems. The type of work done depends on what type of engineer a person is. Not all engineers work in doors but normally work a standard 40 hour week. Most engineers need at least a 4-year degree. You should have some of the following skills:

  • Drafting and Computer
  • Teamwork and Communication
  • Analytical
  • Math
  • Job Outlook by mnCareers.org:

The outlook is good for engineering careers. There should be many openings for jobseekers with the necessary skills and education. Demand for workers can vary by type of industry. The strength of the economy and level of construction activity plays a big part in the number of openings for civil engineers and technicians. The national outlook is also good, especially for replacing engineers who move on to other jobs.

It's essential for engineers to continue learning. Technology changes quickly, and an engineer must be on top of these changes. But technical expertise is not always the most important skill to learn. Employers want people with management, business, communication and teamwork skills.
