"So sorry about the way there sunshine. Are you ready to get started?"
"More than ever," She said as she forced a smile. Her and tom walked around the huge backtsage, makeing their way to the costume and dressing rooms. They were spaciouse rooms, equipped with the mirrors with the lights around them, couches, refridgerators and other comforting things. It was a relaxed atmosphere which Adi liked. She couldn't imagine herself going on stage and performing, but being backstage like this would make her feel must more at ease.
"Now, originally our props artist was going to help us out...he made all the props by hand you see. He's great at sketching and painting...but he won't be here for a while, so what do ya think?"
"Well, for starters, since this is plotted in the --"
"Hey Tom," a voice called marching into the rooms. "Where are the programs at? I need to go hang some at-" He stopped himself, relizing what he was interupting. "Oh, God, Sorry."
The Tall, dark good looking younge man approached closer as Adi looked up and relized he was very familiar.
"Oh, no problem. Adi this is-"
"Brady Stetson!" Adi finshed.
"Holy shit!" Brady exclaimed. "Adriana Raddison, what the hell are you doing here!"
Adi stood up and walked over to him and gave him a big hug, leaving Tom scratchign his head in confusion.
"My job!! what are you doing here! You're all...dressed up!" She said eyeing her attire, which consist of black pants, a dark blue shirt and a tie.
"My job!" He repeated.
"Ah..umm," Tom started. "So.." He got up, "How do you guys know eachother?"
"Oh gosh," Adi started. "We go way back...We graduated from HighSchool together a few years ago."
"Really," Tom said. "That is really wierd."
"No shit," Brady agreed. "What are you doing here?! I thought you were all off being some big famouse fashion designer!"
Tom, obviously a bit jealouse of Brady, got up from the couch and walked a little way away.
"Well I owed Tom a favor and he needed help with some costumes and...here I am! what About you? Don't tell me you are in this play.""
"Oh, hell no. I'm working part time here as a house manager."
"Wow, really? You weren't here last year were you?"
"No, actually" He stated. "I just started like 6 months ago. Needed some extra cash and my roomate from college designs the sets here part time so he kinda hooked me up.
"Well that great. So you still work with your dad in his business?"
Brady's dad is a contractor and helps construct buildings and houses. "Yeah, oh yeah." He commented. "Business is great, but my mom always says she never gets to see me dressed up," He joked. "So, I found another job that didn't give me a choice."
Adi laughed. "Well, I can't believe I ran into you. It's seriously been along time."
"Yeah. hey if you want, later when your done, come to my office around 6 and we can have lunch or something, talk and catch up, shit like that."
"That sounds good," Adi smiled. "Although, I'm not sure what time I'm gonna be outta here. Be the looks of it, it might not be anytime soon."
"Alright." Brady said. "Well, when your done, come to my office anyway, I might still be there. Unless or course you are completly beat."
"No trust me, I'm looking forwardto it."
"Sweet," He said. "Well it was great running into you again, Adriana."
"You too dude, I will see you later, okay?"
"You bet. Talk to ya later," he said as he walked away.
This brighted Adi's day up so much better. She couldn't believe it that she ran into one of her old high school friends. And it seemed that he hadn't changed much. Brady was one of those guys that could get along with anyone, he was a real people person. And altho Adriana and Brady weren't the best of friends, they often hung out in groups and knew eachother from alot of the same parties they attended. The funny thing is, is that he hadn't changed a bit, physically. He was by no means scrawny, but very tall and slim, his hair was the same way she remembed it on her graduation day, and he still had the same great personality. She looked forward to meeting up with him and catching up on old times.
But for right now, she had to have all of her focus on designing costumes. She knew if she were to get pre-occupied, she it would taken even longer than she would like and then she would for sure get behing in the office.
Her and Tom met up once again and began to go over possible ideas for the 15 people's costumes they needed to design for the charachters in the play. She found it comical that most of the costumes needed were for the "Vontrap children." Altho it was comical that the costumes needed were almost for the most important people in the play, but this also added pressure to her and she knew she needed to do a good job and to not slack.
One by one the charachters came into the dressing room and Adi measured them for their costumes. She remember from her last play that the little details needed to be taken care of first, and then she could go on with whatever work was needed to be taken care of. The downside was that the rest of the work left was major work, and even more bad news was that she was on a clock to get it finished.
The hours flew by and by the time Adriana and Tom were done discussing details, she glanced at her watch and was surprized to see that it was already 7:15. Still wanted to catch up with Brady, she packed up her sketch bag and notebooks and headed upstairs to his office. Tom knew that Adi would need to be around alot within the next two weeks, so he arranged for her to get a picture ID to wear around the neck, to avoid confusion with Secutity guards. Tom also knew that he couldn't expect Adi to be at the theater every second, so they agreed that if she came around 1 o'clock everyday that they would have enough time to work and hopefully get done, but also enough time for her to get her individual work done at her office.
Adi finally made it up to Tom's office and knocked on the door. She felt dumb when she noticed the dry-erase board on the door with a message for her. It read: Adi, Sorry to do this but I need to get going now. Sorry we couldn't meet up. Hopefully I will talk to you tommorrow. Have a great night, Brady.
Adi smiled at his thoughfulness. She picked up the marker and wrote a message of her own.
Hi Brady! It was so cool seeing you again today! Hopefully we can catch up sometime soon! Call me sometime if I don't see you tommorrow! 1-123-456-7899 is my cell number. Call most anytime! See you later, Adi
Adi put the cap back onthe parker and put the marker back in it's spot on the board. She couldn't help it to be excited about her new-found friend. She had friends outside of work, but she was excited to have another one from her past. Exhausted, she left his floor and made his way down to the main lobby and out the door. She glanced at her watch as she hailed a cab, and she decided to hit the office for a few hours to catch up on some work.
As she got into the back she hailed, she took her phone out of her purse and noticed 5 missed calls. When she checked to see who they were from, one named appeared as "Dusty's Cell, and one as "Office". Debating whether or not to check her messages to find dead air, she found herself pushing the "1" button, which called her voice mail.
"Please enter passcode," the woman's voice on her voicemailed said. She entered the numbers in and found that she had only 2 new messages. She played the first one.
"Hi, Adi, this is Jer calling, just want to appologize for coming down on ya kinda hard today, I know you made a commitment and I just want to saw I'm sorry. You are very important to the company and we just don't want you swamped. Well have a great night Adi,and we will see you tomomrrow morning. Bye."
Adriana smiled. She felt alot better knowing that JErry knew where she was coming from and taht she felt she couldn't just drop this job of hers. This made her feel so much better.
"New Message, 7:25, P.M."
"Adi..Babe..where are ya girl. I miss you... Just wondeirng what your doing. I haven't seen you in so long and kinda wanna be with you tonight. I went by your appartment and no one was there and just wanted to see what's up. Well hopefully I'll see you later, k baby. Love you."
Adriana was surprized at the message she had just heard. It was rare when Dustin called and left a sweet message like that. She wondered what he wanted. Although she missed him too, her conversaiton with Heather earlier in the day replayed in her head and she decided not to call him. She knew if she did, she would end up talking all night, or even end of going over to his appartment, and she knew she had work to do here.
Adi paid the cab driver and unlocked the door to Macy's and walked strait to the elevator. She pressed the 20 button on the outside and waiting for the doors to open.
She got up to her floor, and still there were people everywhere. She wasn't exactly sure why, but the office was busy almost around the clock. Heather was still there busy doing payroll, Jerry was running copoes, and many others were still busy in there office. When she opened office, she turned on her lights and slung her bag and purse to the floor. She was extremly exhausted but she knew she had work to do here. But, a shower was in order. She quick stuck her head out the door.
"Hey, Heather?"
"Yeah, what ya need?" She asked still busy typing into her calculator.
"If you need me I'm in here, but I'm gonna take a quick shower first, alright?"
She hopped to the bathroom for a few minutes of relaxation.
Untill a knock came at her bathroom door 3 minutes after she got in.
Knocking on her door, JC waited for an answer.
"YEAH?"
"Adiii," a familiar voice sounded. She smiled.
"Dustinnnn," She echoed back.
"Can I come in?"
"What?!"
"Well not in-in, just in the room? You do have a shower curtain, correct?"
"Oooh," She responded. "Yeah, it's open. Lock the door when you come in and close it behind you."
Dustin did as he was told and walked into the bathroom, which was decorated in bright colors. He took a seat on the countertop, eying her outfit she had worn that day, which was hanging on a hanger. He looked around for any sort of undergarment, but was unsucessful.
"So what's up?" She asked as she continued to shower.
"Um, Nothing, really," He said as he talked about the water running. He could smell the sweet scent of her body wash. "Didn't you get my message from before?"
"What??" She asked. She could barely hear due to the sounds of the shower running and the fan in the ceiling running as well.
" I said didn't you get my message before?!?" Dustin voiced in a louder tone.
"Oh, yeah....hang on..I'm almost done."She said as she finished up.
Adriana turned the water off and slightly opened the door to reach her hand for the dark purple cloth robe she had hanging on a hook right beside the shower. Wrapping it around her body, she stepped out of the shower dripping.
"Sorry," she said. "Yeah, I got your message, but I've been running non-stop all day," she confessed.
He watched her dry herself off with a matching purple towel and soon after appled some Victorias Secret Body lotion.
"Need a break?" He asked as he extended his arms out to her hips and pulled her closer.
"I wish I had time for one," She commented, as he turned her around and affectionatly massaged her shoulders and back.
"Mmm," she sighed. Dustin continued to massage her upper body as she more and more relectantly leaned back into him. "But, I don't have time for one," she said as she broke away from him and grabbed a detangler combo from a drawer and started to comb through her wet hair.
Dustin rolled his eyes. He hated when she played hard to get.
"Oh, Come on," He said, hopping off of the counter."You can't tell me you don't feel overworked."
"Maybe I do," she said playfully, putting down the comb and grabbing some hair serum. She put a small amount in her hand and smoothed it through her hair.
Dustin walked over and took the hair serum and set it down, wrapping his arms around her, her back to him.
"I hate that your so busy," He said, placing two little kisses along her neckline. "God you smell good."
Adi could feel herself giving into him...which felt nice, but knowing how much work she had to do burned her.
"Dusty.." she said softly. "I'm soaked...I'm gonna get you all wet," she finished.
"Well if all goes well, I'm gonna be the one getting you wet."
Adi giggled and turned around and pushed him back a little ways. "Oh get off!"
Dustin sat there with a huge grin on his face from the comment he just made.
Adi shook her head and rolled her eyes playfully.
"Dream on."
Dustin didn't say a work, just looked at her with one of his looks. He knew what she would do.
He hopped back onto the counter. She was just so exhausted she didn't even care anymore. She walked towards him and turned around. He began to massage her shoulders, back and neck again...and soon his hands made it to the two strings that tied the robe together...
