The Occupation of Highway 55The comming together of community organizers, national environmental organizations and a local Native American tribe.

Police harassment is a constant in the lives of the reroute opponents. Occasionally it goes far beyond harassment and people are seriously hurt during police raids that have cost the tax payers in excess of $1 million since October, 1998.

Pictures from the Occupation
Literally hundreds more pictures can be found organized by date on Tom Taylor's Site. The photographs displayed here typically do not appear anywhere else, although their respective photographers and subjects have agreed to allow them to be used as public domain provided they are properly credited.
