This group was organized as a result of the message delivered by Father McCarthy at a conference at
Peace Church in March of 2000. See below for some of the details of that conference.

links for more information.

of late.

office, and how does it compare to the platforms of the current major political parties?
September 10: Gary Kohls gave a presentation on Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, something he has been
working on for several years now.
AUGUST 6 Was Hiroshima Sunday, and we discussed the US's bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in relation to New
Testament Ethics.

the first Sunday of each month. On June 4th, we met at the Thomas Merton Center, on the corner of 8th St and
11th Ave, Duluth, MN; it's on the side of the St. Anthony Center. The topic was Thomas Merton, appropriately enough, with information given by Sr. Laura.
APRIL 9th First "real" meeting of the Study
Group! The agenda will be:
MARCH 21 Christian nonviolence
study group organizational meeting.
We have started an online bulletin board at:
http://pub69.ezboard.com/bchristiannonviolenceduluth . Please check it out, add your comments, thoughts, or ideas, and come
back often! It went up on 5/15/01, so have patience if there are not many posts yet.
The Every Church a Peace Church Conference
at The College of St. Scholastica on, April 27 and 28 drew 110 people from as far away as Colorado. This first in a series of
National conferences on Christian Nonviolence was viewed by many to be a wonderful start to this movement.
Study Group Schedule:
Next Meetings:
There has been a core group meeting during the past 11 months, and this core is continuing to meet, in an attempt
to determine how we can employ what we've learned together. Community has been a central theme all along,
and we are trying to explore how we can work together to achieve a sense of community which will allow us to
pursue God's calling in our lives. The study group meetings are therefore on hold at the moment, but we hope to
resume them in some form in the future. We see the just-completed Every Church a Peace Church conference
as a perfect opportunity to re-energize and make contact with others who are trying to follow Jesus.
Past Topics:
Jan 7th The topic was Conscientious objection to war and killing.
1) Potluck! Bring a dish to pass
2)A time for Reflection, Prayer, and Music
3) Study/Discussion Session: the topic was decided as
"Reconciling the Merciful New Testament God with the
'eye-for-an-eye' Old Testament God"
4)Calls for Action: What can we do, within ourselves, our family, community, and world.
summary: We had 9 folks attend, with quite diverse
backgrounds. We decided to meet monthly, with a
potluck on a Sunday night at Peace Church. We hope to
provide daycare. The topic was set at: Reconciling
the New Testament God with the Old Testament God. The
date was set as April 9th at 6 pm, Peace Church.
All CNV Study Group meetings are now being held at Peace UCC (Corner of E 11th St and 11th Ave) Duluth, MN at 7 PM.
Any and all are welcome.
