New Poems 2004

Hidden But Safe

i am a solid black volcano island no life survives daily, new fish die choking on the fear i spew-- you won't know how i transfigured, so harsh a condition has finally beat submission and now i thrive in hot lava i revive my thick caste of ash keeping out the cold-- rain boils on my surface and evaporates yet i thirst and cannot be satisfied until i leave my shell behind.

Benched Hope

benched hope rules with lawless disregard for reality though wait on both ends arches her back she bends the bend that holds creates an uncorrupt fate

Icicles

i'll take you in pieces as long as you keep sending them in the mail i'll take you in pieces as long as you keep dripping into my line

i sang
     for you tonight
and my voice
     haunted all who heard.

i savor
     your intensity still
hanging on to
     what's left of you.
i have
  not disturbed
your change
  carelessly left
on my endtable.

i have
  not disturbed
your change
  of mind
carelessly crumpling
  my heart.
i make it
      obvious but you
choose ambiguity
       sending me
the same trash
       i asked not
to be sent.

you create
      healthy boundaries
but don't respect
      them yourself.

don't tell me
      what you don't
want to say
      and i
won't know
      but yet
you give it
      away.
