Here is an idea gone terribly wrong. The design of the new Piper tower is loosely based on the Medical Arts Building next door. Both are two-tiered and light colored with ornamentation around the top. It's a good start, but it just doesn't work. The grouping of individual windows into large blocks and the alternating lightness of the horizontal bands give it a stark, chunky feel. It overwhelms its old neighbor. |
