1971 Valmont 640 ER

The Valmont overall is in nice shape for its age. It is also mostly complete. The hood is in good structural shape with only one hole on the front and one small crack in the back. However it does have a lot of spider cracking. Both front vents are missing. The vents on top by the windshield are also gone. The windshield appears to be good. The bumper only has a couple of scratches in it other wise the chrome is good. The sled has only a tach and there are no holes or mount for a speedo. It also has a Cig lighter and Elec Start. The Forward and Reverse seem to shift nicely. I have not had time to get this sled running. The little wires on the coils are broke off. It does how ever have Tons of Compression. Been it’s a 640 twin it takes a man to pull this baby over. That’s where the Elec start comes in handy. The gas tank appears to be in good shape with no cracks. It is missing the gas cover though. The fiber glass belly pan is nice in the front and a little rough at in the back. Hardly any spider cracking. The tracks look to be in great shape. They have a lot of miles left in them yet. Drive train seems to be all in working order. I think it is missing a shroud around the carb. The seat needs to be recovered. The foam is in great shape. There is also an open compartment under the seat for storage. The sled is almost rust free as it comes from Montana. It does have some rust in the compartment under the seat. I think overall this sled could be made nice again. I know it won’t take much to get it running. In fact I’d love to try riding one some these someday. I also know that they make great collecter sleds. Make me an offer.
