leave their cozy warm home
for the five mile ride
In Mom`s little car
on that cold winters day
five miles wasnt too far
for their child at the sitters to stay
while Mom worked for the day
and tho she was only three
he heard their baby say
it`s fun Mommy just you and me
going on this ride
as she smiled with glee
you and me side by side
this ride will be hea-been-ly
as he waved goodby
was the chilling wind
that drew a tear in his eye
not knowing how the trip would end
on the highway trouble arose
unseen was a patch of ice
spun them out of control
flipped them over in the snow
trailing cars struck them twice
twas the day of their final ride
Mom and Daughter together
happy being side by side
on a trip that will last forever
twas their trip to the eternal side
