The Encounter- Chapter twelve

By Mallard

“Hey, don’t worry, we got the phasers set to ionize, won’t be a trace of the things!” said Jardi. I had my trusty Master Sword and bow, and the hammer and ocarina, but I wanted to reduce weight so I only took those things. Well, I did have my longshot but nothing else besides. Zelda had a bow also, but that was all. Aaron and the rest had phasers and swords. They charged, we sliced. They charged, we sliced. Suddenly they all started running to the castle. “What are you doing, you big furry cowards?!” Zelda screamed. It was very windy, so we had to yell like seven years ago. “The Sages are over here, the Hero of Time is over here so why aren’t you over here?!!!!” she yelled, her voice rising to a crescendo. Their ears pricked up and so did mine. “The Sages aren’t here!” I yelled. “Well, look behind you!” Zelda said, so I turned around and-what do you know-the Sages are right there. They smiled, especially Ruto. Aaron had done a lot so far, ionizing monsters like no other and even whacking a few monsters with a wicked jump attack. He was invaluable. But then the monsters suddenly disappeared with a flash and in their place stood Ganon. “Thank you for gathering all in one place, everyone!” laughed Ganon. “I have a spell that could do some damage to the Sages! Or anyone else in Hyrule!” “Well, you are WRONG, Ganon!” said Zelda. “Oh, you just don’t know! But it looks like you volunteered, Zelda, so come on!” laughed Ganon. “Are you out of your maniacal mind, Ganon? No self-respecting person would even think of joining you!” sputtered Zelda. “HAHA!! In a minute you won’t be a self-respecting person at all, just someone like me!” he roared and a dark light started flowing out from him. It literally covered Zelda. She gave one final pleading glance before the spell took over. She got up, I thought she was going to be all right but she looked into my eyes and I saw nothing but hatred, pure hatred, in them. She laughed evilly and slowly stepped back to where Ganon was. “You see, it works! Now I can get the Triforce of Wisdom and then the Triforce of Courage from you! And then I have a special treatment in store for the brat who messed up my plans seven years ago!” screamed Ganon. I looked at Zelda. I saw only evil. “Link, you know you don’t want her in that shell, she would be happier dead. She would want you to.” said Aaron. “Zelda? Kill Zelda? Are you out of your ever-loving mind?!! I can’t kill Zelda, I LOVE HER, YOU FOOL!!” I thundered. “If you love Zelda, do it.” a voice said in my head. “But I can’t!” I screamed to no one in particular. “Link.” said Aaron. “There’s other people in the world besides Zelda! There are a lot of great people out there who love you, who adore you, who would take care of you. But if you aren’t the type who can let go, then...leave her in that state forever.” he said. I weighed the consequences. Leave Zelda how she was, or...I couldn’t bring myself to think about it. But I had to. “Zelda! I’m sorry I have to do this, but it’s for your own good. Good-bye.” I said. I walked toward her. I could see she wasn’t even flinching. “What do you think you are doing, Link?” she said as I walked toward her. “I’m helping you.” I replied. “In what way?” she asked suspiciously. “In this way.” I said and I let out a war cry as my sword rammed through her. She let out a gasp and fell over. “Oh my...I can’t believe I did that to her. And all because of YOU, Aaron!” I yelled. I ran over to him and was about to slice him to pieces when he gave me a rocketing uppercut that sent me sprawling. “Sometimes the good of the many comes before the good of the one.” he said. I was shaking on the ground, I was paralyzed, I couldn’t do anything. But Aaron helped me stand on my feet and I walked over to where Ganon was. “You’ve been waiting patiently.” I said sarcastically. “Good show, Link. Now prepare to meet the same fate as your precious Zelda!” he snarled. That same stuff started flowing toward me. “Time for the big boys!” Aaron yelled. “Let’s get ready to rumble!” Jardi shouted. “I can’t let you boys have all the fun!” said a voice. Someone in a Sheikah jumpsuit come hurtling from nowhere and landed right by Aaron. It was Ashley Morris! “Ashley! What are you doing here?” said Aaron. “That was just like Zelda!” I said. “Wow! Impa told me all about her! Honestly?” she said. “What does Impa have to do with this?” I said. “I took lessons from her!” she said. “Ho boy!” I thought. “You guys have short attention spans!” Ganon said. We kept forgetting about Ganon! All of us leapt forward. Rocketing beams of light flew toward us. We nimbly leapt away. “Now we actually get some action!” I said. “Step back!” Jardi said. His phaser ripped the air. Unfortunately Aaron had gotten picked up by Ganon. He was about to be thrown to the ground when suddenly an explosion threw Ganon about ten yards back. Aaron wasn’t hurt, but when I looked for who caused it I almost fainted. It was Zelda!!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry, Link got a little bit excited. Editor) “How in the world did you get out of that one?” I said. Suddenly Ganon got up and said “I may have been defeated but I am not going to the Dark World again!” and with that he disappeared. Zelda walked over to me. “What are you talking about? All that was happening is that I was lying down on the ground and with my bow and you were fighting Ganon and I got up and fired a Light Arrow, that’s all. Are you feeling all right?” she said. “Never mind...” I said. Our lips locked. Ganon was gone, for now. Zelda was fine, I was fine (much to my amazement) and the others were perfect, as always. “Man, I could of married Link but Zelda had to get in the way!” whined Ruto. “Fat chance, Ruto!” I chuckled. We all laughed. It was time for a vacation. Lake Hylia, anyone?
