The Encounter- Chapter eight

By Mallard

“Look! It’s the Great Deku Tree!” said Zelda. A giant tree loomed on the horizon. “I always wanted to actually see him!” she exclaimed. I happened to look behind me. “Zelda, look out!” I yelled. I threw myself into her and just a split-second later streaks of red, green, and blue shot over us. “Who the heck were those people?” I said in annoyance. “The.....Goddesses......” she said, hardly daring to breathe. “Oh, now you’re crazy?” I said. “Aaron, you’re so stubborn!” said Zelda. “No, I’m not crazy! Those were the Goddesses!” said Zelda. “Let’s go back. It seems like we have been here for years!” I said. “There is one good thing about this. Years or centuries or even millennia may seem to pass, when it is only minutes in Hyrule.” said Zelda in a schoolteacher sort of way. “Focus.....” she muttered, and a few seconds later we were back. “Zelda, you’ve been standing there for minutes like a ReDead! You too, Aaron!” said Link Number One. Then something that I didn’t exactly think Zelda was capable of: she started sobbing. She ran up to one of the Links and buried her face in his tunic. “It’s all right, Zelda. I...think it would be the right thing to do.” said Link Number Two. “That proves it! You’re Ganon!” yelled Zelda. But then I saw Link Number One unsheath his sword. “Oh crud, Zelda! LOOK OUT!!” I yelled. Link Number Two heard me. Zelda spun around. Link Number Two flipped over Zelda, blocking the attempt on Zelda’s life. Link Number One morphed into Ganon. “This time, no one gets away!” he roared. “How do we get the Master Sword now?!” Link exclaimed in frustration. “You mean you really want to?” yelled Zelda. “Yes, as a matter of fact, I DO!” screamed Link. “Duck!” I yelled and a moment later a battle-ax pretty much ruined the floor. Suddenly the Sages appeared. “Seventh Sage, we need your help!” shouted Rauru. A wind spell had been caused by Ganon, so that’s why we were yelling. Seven beams of light shot at Ganon. He froze. “Link...” Zelda barely whispered. “The Ocarina of Time, in my pocket....play the song...” Ganon wasn’t going to be held in much longer. Link played a haunting melody that sounded like it came from a slum of New York, ya know....well, the Door of Time opened and we stepped through. We had to carry Zelda, much to the protest of the Sages. One of them cast a spell to close the door. It wouldn’t of made a difference because the Triforce of Wisdom was in Zelda, the Triforce of Courage in Link, and the Triforce of Power to “Mister Pig”. “We’re safe!” said Link, breathing a sigh. “There’s the Master Sword! Let’s get it!” he said. He ran up and was about to pull it out when I yelled “Link! What about Zelda?” He thought about this and then ran back to Zelda. “Zelda! Wake up! It’s me, Link! Darn...” he muttered. “Huh? Where is he? Eeeeeek! Get out of here, Ganon!” yelled Zelda, pointing at Link. “Zelda! Snap out of it! We’re safe from Ganon, okay?” said Link. Meanwhile, I was inspecting the Master Sword. Very, very cool. “Aaron! I’ll pull it out! Zelda, get up here! Stand by me. Get ready for a shock!” said Link. He pulled it out. A ring of blue fire rose up. “This is the last time we’ll see each other for seven years, so Zelda, I hope you know that I lo-” the noise was too loud. I knew something very powerful was ripping at my very soul. And then, nothing.

I knew this feeling. I had pulled the Master Sword out before. But was it this painful? That was a long time ago. What had happened in seven years? Another war with Ganon? Well, I was equipped for the job. Master Sword: check. Longshot: check. Fairy Bow: check. Hylian Shield: check. Scrolls: check. Scrolls? Why in Zelda’s name would I have scrolls? Well, this time around, this crystal was spacious, so I could walk around in it. I couldn’t see through, however, so I couldn’t see if Zelda or Aaron were alright. Why is it that I can’t see anyone when I need them most? Arrrggh! Some ignorant Klingon got me with his disruptor! Now they’re going to do some horrible things to me! Wait a minute, since when do Klingons put people in crystals? And where am I? I have rights, I’m in Starfleet! I heard someone muttering “.....Shield: check. Scrolls: check. Scrolls? Why in Zeld...” Well, that was all I heard. But Zeld? Who was Zeld? He didn’t sound like the most exciting person alive, but I could be wrong. No, wait a minute, he was talking about Zelda! I sat back. My back hit hard crystal. “Ouch! I would think they would at least give you some comfort, heck!” I muttered. This had better not be Ganondorf, or I’m gonna get mad, I thought. How was Link? That was my main problem, but there were a bunch of other things rising to my head. Who was holding me prisoner? How was Hyrule? There were just too many things! But then someone was saying “Isn’t it about time we let the Seventh Sage, the Hero of Time, and the Protector of the Triforce out of their prison?” one voice said. It sounded strangly like Saria. “I suppose. They have been in there seven years.” said another. I decided to call out. “To anybody who will listen, GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!” I screamed. “Oh, they’re awake all right!” said the same voice. I heard a deep chuckle. And then I heard something that I thought was the best thing I had heard in a long time. “Hey, Aaron! Looks like you got Zelda on your right there! Hi, Zel!” “You better believe it, Link!” I yelled back. Ganon is going to have a big surprise, I thought. I smiled, the first time I had in seven years.
