The Encounter- Chapter four

By Mallard

I had a pounding headache. What happened last night? Oh yeah, I was talking with Aaron when Hyrule Castle fell on me. I got out of bed. I was going to go talk to Zelda. Oh yeah. She’s in a coma. Scrap that idea. Wait a minute. ZELDA IN A COMA?! I rushed to the hospital where Zelda was. “Where is Princess Zelda?!” I asked. “Oh, another adoring fan who wants to marry her! Room 007.” said the clerk. I rushed to her room. I saw her in bed, as beautiful as ever. But there was a certain sadness in the air. I heard her murmuring about loving someone. Well, you guessed it. She was talking about me! I sat back and laughed for a second or two, but those laughs gradually turned into tears. Suddenly a light filled the room. Something weird-looking stood there. VERY weird looking. “When the cock crows at two, then shall great happiness come to you, for the princess shall return from the abyss, from the depths of the emptiness known as Gamiss; and the Zora will be taken a mile, as the crow flew, shall be cast into the deep ocean blue; he will sense something very amiss, and prevent any hopes of joy or bliss; he will prevail, for the time at least, yes, until the second battle with the beast.” it said, disappearing. “What? Who? Gamiss? Where’s that? Man, I’m going stircrazy! I’ll sleep in this chair, I guess.” I said, oblivious to any sort of comfort. After collapsing in it, I tried to go to sleep, but couldn’t. I looked at Zelda. “Isn’t this wild?” I told myself.

I couldn’t help it. I cried. For the injustice I had done Hyrule. Jardi never would of done that. No one but me. I cried some more. The first contact between Hylians and Earth had been a failure. All because of me. “No, Aaron. Not because of you.” “Who’s there?” I asked. A yellow light gradually formed into a figure. He was plump, short, and the only hair he had was sideburns and a mustache stretching around his neck. “I am Rauru, the Sage of Light.” said Rauru. “I know of your troubles. Do not worry. Princess Zelda is alive, or should I say will be.” he said. “SHE’S ALIVE???!!!! WHOO!!!!YEEEEEAAAAAHHHH!!” I shouted. “Oh, I must go, for a meeting with the other Sages. Good-bye.” said Rauru, and he faded away. I rushed out to talk to Zelda. It was 1:50 AM.

“Why? Why did she have to go into a coma? It’s just not fair! She was only ten! I har...” that was all I could get out. I was too emotional. I cried for what seemed like hours, but in reality it was only five minutes. I got hold of myself, and thought about what that weird thing had said. “When the cock crows at two...” I muttered to myself. Then I remembered a special kind of cucco that’s trained to cock-a-doodle at various times, such as 2:00 AM! I checked the room clock. It was 1:55. For some reason that I’ll never know I opened the window, and then sat down in my chair again. If this guy really was right, then Zelda would be snapping out of it in at least five minutes. I waited. 1:56. 1:57. 1:58. 1:59. I looked at Zelda. She moved an arm. 15 seconds. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, (I felt like I was counting down to the new year, only this was ten times more important) 4, 3, 2, 1, 2:00! Nothing happened. 15 seconds after, still nothing, 30 seconds, nothing, 45, nothing, one minute, nothing. I kicked a bucket that was nearby. I threw the chair out the window. I have feelings too, you know. Something stirred behind me. I whirled around, accdently flying right by a smiling Zelda. “What are you doing?” she asked. “Is this really you?” I asked. “The one and only!” Zelda said. Suddenly Aaron came skidding into the room and right out the window. I grabbed him by the leg just before he fell to his doom. “Thanks a bunch, where’s the prince? I mean, Princess.” Aaron said. “I heard that, you twit!” Zelda yelled. “Definitely her!” I chuckled, dragging him back in. “Hey, how soon can you get out of bed?” Aaron asked. “Does this answer your question?” Zelda asked, jumping out of the medical bed. We looked at each other, then cracked up. “Hey, I need you to transport us to the Chamber of Sages.” Aaron said. “Excuse me?” Zelda asked. I looked at her, seeing what Aaron had in mind. Zelda sighed and started to transport all three of us to the Chamber of Sages. “Anybody have any idea where-” Aaron never got to finish his question. Everything went dark.

“Oh, you poor thing. I’m sorry to have to do this to you.” Ganon said. I shook my head, looking over at Link and Zelda. “Oh, no.” I muttered. “What do you want with us, Ganon?” Zelda said through her teeth. “Sakes, this is going to be bad. Why, of all things, does this have to happen to ME?” I groaned. Ganon was apparently taking his time to answer. “I want the Triforce, if you don’t know.” he said. “Yeah, I think we do know. Right?” Link asked. I gave a rousing growl for support. “If you give it to me peacefully, then I won’t hurt you, I give you my word.” Ganon said. “Your honor is about as good as filth in the castle gutters!” Zelda snapped. Ganon became enraged and pressed his face against Zelda’s. “Why am I listening to KIDS? I’m many thousands of years older than you could ever think!” Ganon said. “Man, where are your breath mints?” I asked. He roared and held onto the strap that held me to the cold wall. He held on so hard that it broke. Fortunately, he didn’t notice. I managed to slip out and get behind Ganon. I saw a spear nearby and picked it up. I threw it at the monster and connected. Ganon howled and stumbled around. I quickly took the straps off the other two and we all ran. Suddenly Link turned around. “What are you doing?” Zelda called. “I’m going to hold him off!” Link called. I looked at him. He shrugged and turned to Ganon. I saw him charge. Link steadied himself, but Ganon raised his hand and swung. Link flew back. He had a deep cut on his chest. Zelda screamed as she turned back. I hauled him over. “What’s the nearest way to Hyrule City?” I asked. “Prelude of Light!” Zelda called, getting her ocarina out and playing it. Slowly, we were all encompassed in light. Me and Zelda looked at each other as we arrived in the Temple of Light. We ran Link to the doctor that was in town. We quickly told him the situation. I sat down in a chair. “We did it!” I said. Zelda looked at me. “Not yet.” she said.
