Challenge #1 - "The Dance"

This Tutorial was written using PSP7, you may certainly use PSP8

if you are familiar with the changes.

"Dancing"

Tools and files you will need are as follows in

this Zip file.

Unzip the GlitterGold.bmp and the GoldFoil.bmp to

your PSP Patterns folder

Unzip the Diane'sFrameMask.mask to your

PSP Mask folder (Mask created by AB)

unzip the 'Season for Brighton' image to your

graphics folder if using this graphic .

1.Open 'Season for Brighton' or your chosen

image. Resize to around 350 to 400 width as we will

be adding additional width to the image.

2. Select image and duplicate twice. You should now

have an image 1 and image 2.

Minimize/drop down the image 2, we will use later.

Now, close your original

3.Select image 1 and Promote to layer. Go to your

color pallet and change your foreground color

to the texture setting. Double click on the texture

and select the Gold Foil

4.Add a new layer. Name it 'Gold Foil' and flood

fill with the Gold Foil

5.Mask - Load from disk:

Diane'sFrameMask.msk - OK.

Mask/Delete mask. Select OK when asked if you want

to merge the mask with the current layer.

6.Effects - Sharpen/Sharpen

**Note in the next step, if You are using an

image with very light colors, then do not use

black for the shadow color, select a light color

from your image

7.Effects - 3D Effects - Drop Shadow

H/V 1/1 - Opacity: 100 - Blur 1

Again the same, but with H/V -1/-1

8. Add a new layer and name it 'Glittergold.'

Go to the color pallet. double click on the Glittergold.

9.Flood fill your 'Glittergold layer' with the Glittergold

10.Repeat Step 5

11.Go to effects Sharpen/Sharpen More

Layers - Merge

Merge/Merge visible.

12. Set your background color to white and

add a border size 5

Select the border with your magic wand

and flood fill it with the Glittergold

13. Keep selected - Selections - Invert

Effect - 3D Effect

Cutout with the following settings:

H/V 4/4 - Opacity: 60 - Blur 20 and again with

the same setting but change it to

H/V -4/-4 - then Selections - Invert and keep selected.

14.While still selected go to:

Effect - 3D Effect - Inner bevel and apply the

following setting:

Select none.

15.With your background still set to white

add a border - size 20

Select the border with your magic wand and

flood fill it with your duplicate

image pattern. Image 2.

Keep selected. Effect - blur - gaussian blur - settings 15

Select none

16.Set your background color to white and

add a border size 5

Click on border with magic wand, and flood fill with the 'Glittergold pattern'

17.Go to Effect - 3D Effect - Inner bevel and apply

the same setting as step 14.

Select none

18.With your background still set to white, add

a border size 30

Select the border with your magic wand

and flood fill it with your duplicate image pattern.

Keep selected and go effect - plugins -

Filter Factory G - Cirquelate - settings default.

19.While still selected go to 3D Effect - Inner bevel

and apply the following setting

Selections - Select none

20. Got to Layer pallet and promote Background

to Layer.

21. Rename this Layer 'Picture'.

Add new Raster Layer.

22. Go to Selection Tool and Double Click

23. Set Selection Area settings to:

Left = 0 -- Right = 50

Top = 0 -- Bottom = 50

24. With Eyedropper choose a color from

the background of your picture. Flood fill the

Selection with the color you picked.

25. Keep Selected and Go to:

Effects/plug-ins/Fantastic Machines/Paint Engine with following settings:

Click Apply.

Select none

26. Go to layer pallet and duplicate this layer.

Go to Image/mirror

27. Go to layer pallet and duplicate this new layer

Go to Image/Flip

28. Go to layer pallet and duplicate this layer.

Go to Image/mirror

29. Turn off your picture layer in the

Layers Pallet.

Merge Visible your corner layers

30. With your Magic Wand, click in the center

of your corner layer.

Go to Selections/Invert

31. Go to Selections/Modify/Expand

Expand by 5

32. Add a new Raster layer.

Set your foreground to the glittergold pattern.

33. Flood fill the selection with the glittergold.

Select none.

34. Go to the layer pallet and drag your gold

corner layer under your color corners layer.

35. Turn you picture layer back on.

Merge all layers

36. Set your background color to white then go to

Image/Add Border and add a border of 10

37. With your Magic Wand select your border

and flood fill with the Glittergold pattern.

38. Go to Selections/Invert.

39. Go to Effects/3D Effects/Cutout and use

these settings

Ver = 0, Hor = 0, Opac = 80, Blur = 40, color = Black

Select None

40. Image add borders of 20.

With the Magic Wand select

and flood fill with the Glittergold

41. Selections invert.

While still selected

Click on / effects/3d effects/cutout with

the following settings -- 5,5,49,1.2.

Repeat above except settings -- -5,-5,49.1.2

42. Selections invert

While still selected

Go to :

Effects/ plugins/Simple/Diamonds.

Click apply

43. Go to effects/3d effects/Inner Bevel with

the following settings:

44. Selections. select none.

Image - add border.

Add width of 5.

Select with Magic Wand and flood

fill with the Glittergold

45. Go to image/Effects/3D Effects/ Inner Bevel

with the same settings as Step 14

46. Save and enjoy your efforts
