Peace in the Middle East?

Peace in the Middle East?

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do no6t let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"-John 14:27

I was listening to a sermon in the christian radio station in St. Paul, MN one morning; The speaker said something like this on peace-"Peace is not absent of war, but rather it's the calmness/stillness through a peaceness with God (through all circumstances-good or bad in life)"

Peace in the Middle East?

HISTORY

This has been a big question in the past, currently, and will be in the future. Many people are ignorant about the current situation there because they are clueless what the history of this Biblical, political, religious, and global focus region.

From a religious understanding, let me ask you this question? Where does the "name" Israel first derived from? According to Book of the Torah/Old Testament in the Bible, you have to look at the Book of Genesis. There was this guy name Jacob, son of Isaac (son of Abraham), who "wrestled" (physically/spiritually) with God (Genesis 23:22-32). This "wrestling" caused Jacob to be called "Israel" because "…you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome." (Genesis 32:28)

Now you know the meaning behind the name "Israel", let's go back further in the Book of Genesis to "the Fall". God told Satan of a "promised seed" (Genesis 3:15) that will take back what Satan took when he caused/tempted/deceived Adam and Eve to do what they did in the Garden of Eden (Lindsey pp11). As you've been watching in any of the national news networks, they have been talking about the "War on Terrorism". Well, the actual "war" on "terrorism" is not on any man, suicide bomber, or army of this planet from God's eyes. Paul, "a.k.a. Saul" (persecuted Christians during the Roman rule in Israel around 60 AD after Jesus left this Earth, but resurrected), mentioned that "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the aurthorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil, in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 6:12). This "promised seed" according to Lindsey is the descendents of Abraham (Father of the Hebrew/Jewish people, respected by Muslims, and respected by Christians) as the "Anointed One" or Hamashi'ah or Messiah.

Who are the descendents of Abraham? The descendents included: Issac, Jacob, Judah (the people group called "Jews" came from this particular tribe), Rahab (Book of Joshua), Ruth (Book of Ruth), King David (1 & 2 Sammuel), Joseph&Mary=>Jesus. All this and many others that are mentioned in the Torah/Old Testament are in the first chapter of Matthew. Abraham had two different descendents with 2 women: Frist was Hagar (servant): Ishmael and Sara (wife): Isaac (married Rebekka: Esau & Jacob). The two lineages that derived from Abraham is present day Palestinians and Israelites, which they are currently fighting due to their ancestral disputes (Genesis 25:23).

Why in this particular area in the Middle East? Remember the movie "Ten Commandments" (Deuteronomy 9:1-6) when Moses delivered the Hebrew (Israelites) slaves out of bondage or slavery? He took them, a nation, to the "Promise Land". This Promise Land, Canaan, is now known as Israel today after the dominant chosen Kingdom of Judah (nation of the Jewish people) !
