StripStream

Has the man got you under his boot with his .asf, java and flash streaming audio? With StripStream you can out man the man by easily recording the stream for later playback or editing.

Q. How does it work?
A. StripStream uses MCI command strings to open the file stripstream.wav and record over it. Make sure the file exists in the same directory as StripStream.exe. If it does not, just use sound recorder to create a new one.

Q. Can I change the format from .wav to .mp3?
A. StripStream records using the format of the stripstream.wav file but this file can be encoded using any algorithm installed on your computer. Just open the file stripstream.wav in sound recorder and save it using any codec you like. This can greatly reduce the size and/or quality of the recording.

Q. What if nothing records or I hear mouse clicks or my voice in the recording?
A. StripStream records whatever the volume control is set to record. Open the volume control by clicking the speaker icon in the system tray. Mute all outputs except for "Wave". Click on Options-Properties-Recording and select Stereo Mix. You should then be good to go.

Q. What if I want to hear myself singing along?
A. Using the procedure above select "Wave" and "Microphone" as outputs - instant karaoke! Or select "CD" and "Microphone" and sing over your favorite CDs.

Q. Is this all legal?
A. StripStream is not intended for violating copyrights. No really! Our moto is: We just sell the guns, you get to shoot people.
