Magic: The Gathering
My thoughts on Magic
Magic is a technical game no matter what anybody says. The way to victory is to play smarter than your opponent, which usually involves building a better deck. Money is not the key factor in building a good deck. I have made many good decks consisting of common and uncommon cards worth little money. If you can come up with a killer combo and give it the right supporting cast, it will win almost any game. If you make a deck with a killer combo, but it dies in the first three turns, you need to come up with a way to combat that weakness. Whether more COPs or counter spells are needed, you decide. Many times all that is needed is one or two different cards to tip the game in your favor. Also the side board is important in any tournament scene. If you can predict what type of decks will be played, then find out those decks weaknesses and exploit them. The trick to choosing the right side-board and extra cards in your deck is a lot of playtesting. Playing as many different decks and different types of decks is the best way to decide which cards to keep in the deck.
