Beastmaster (the TV-series)

BeastMaster, based on André Norton's novel The Beast Master, chronicles the adventures of Dar, the last surviving male of the storied Sula tribe, who is blessed with the ability to communicate telepathically with the animals of his ancient world. Also endowed with the strength, courage and fighting skills of a great warrior, he uses his gifts to defend all living creatures oppressed by the forces of evil.

Dar's quests and adventures are propelled by his search for his long-lost love Kyra, who has been kidnapped and enslaved by the brutal Terron warriors who destroyed his people.
The BeastMaster's world is a fantastic mythical universe that contains great beauty, diversity and danger. Dar lives in a paridisal aerie garden, perched high atop a jungle plateau in an untamed domain called the Mydlands. This lush subtropical forest is filled with demons, spirits and various tribes struggling to coexist.

Though many of Dar's adventures unfold in this green and feral land, he also travels to other realms, known as the Territories and the Downs. Settled by the violent and nomadic Terrons, the Territories is an ominous place of constant battles and bloodshed. By contrast, the Downs is a land of kings and queens in which mythical creatures, secret potions and magical spells abound.

Featured in Dar's adventures are his amazing animal companions, including Ruh, a fierce and regal tiger that can discern who is good and who is evil; Sharak, an immortal eagle that allows Dar to see through his eyes; and Kodo and Podo, two mischievous ferrets that ride around in Dar's leather pouch.
