In its short 10 years, LaFace Records, based in Atlanta, Georgia, has already been compared to the likes of the musical icon Motown Records. Popular word has it that as Motown once was, LaFace has become a dominant force influencing popular music. With record breaking accomplishments and multi-award winning artists such as TLC, Toni Braxton, Outkast and Usher, it is hard to ignore the similarities.

Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds began their affiliation and professional relationship through their membership in the hit group, The Deele. Together, the two produced the Deele's second album and produced the work of several other acts signed to Solar Records. Reid and Edmonds would go on to produce over 100 top 10 hits including "Don't Be Cruel," (Bobby Brown), "I'm your Baby Tonight," (Whitney Houston), the record breaking single "End of The Road" (Boys II Men), and "Love Shoulda Brought You Home" (Toni Braxton). Their ultimate collaboration resulted in the establishment of LaFace ("L.A." plus "Face") in 1987. Reid and Edmonds ended their production partnership in 1993 but continue to share co-founder titles of their names-sake company.

The first act on LaFace was a duo by the name of Damian Dame, they had three hit singles including the groundbreaking hit "Exclusivity." Their debut album also introduced the next two acts that would release albums on LaFace, Jermain Jackson & the new funky female group TLC. In 1992 LaFace released the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy film "Boomerang", that album would introduce the world to the next multi-platinum artist from LaFace, Toni Braxton. Who earned two hit singles from the soundtrack. Other LaFace recording artist TLC, Damian Dame & nobody knew it then but Shanice also contributed to the hit album, which featured the chart breaking single "End Of The Road" from Boyz II Men.

Through the next nine years LaFace would earn it's spot in history as one of the biggest selling labels of our time. In 1999 - 2000 LaFace celebrates it's 10th anniversary & with the launch of LaFace World, we plan to keep you in the know on one of the hottest labels in the business. With new LaFace recording artist P!NK, Joy & Ivey Gyrl, LaFace will continue to celebrate success!

With already over 80 million albums sold, the future of LaFace continues to shine brightly.
