This page is for the latest information on Jordan's album, any news that I get, I will post here
5/8/99- I think the release date will stick this time! I've seen his album advertised all over the place lately for May 25. Jordan's single is up to #10 on the billboard charts! It was #22 on Kasey Casem and #28 on Rick Dees last week. Jordan's second single will be "Never Take the Place" (The Prince cover)and that will be released in late June or early July!
4/15/99- *sigh* Well it looks as though Interscope never wants us to hear Jordan's album because, well, you guessed it... It's been delayed again:( This week they're saying the release date will be May 25... of course we'll just see how long that lasts. Some people were in the JK.com chatroom last night when Jordan's manager, Miguel was there, so that's where I heard this info. Interscope's excuse this time- There's too many other people releasing their albums on that day. I also heard Jordan did not record the Spanish version of "Give it to you".
3/27/99- Well who knows.... But I heard the album might have been delayed yet again:-( I've heard May 11, however his site still says April 20 and so does CD Now. Let's hope May 11 wrong. According to the CD now site, (which you can now preorder Jordan's CD, there's a link on Jordan's site) it looks like "Can I Come Over Tonight" will not be on the album, but they only had 7 songs listed there last week, so it might not be the most accurate source of info. However, I also heard that there might be a new song called "Find Me" that will be on the album.... probably why thing would be delayed again, can't decide what songs are going to be on there. If anyone from Interscope is reading this- here's my suggestion- Put 'em all on there! I'd love to hear all of Jordan's songs.
3/9/99- The release of the album is now April 20... Interscope can't decide what version(s) of "Give it to you" to put on it. There's been remixes by 95 South, Big Yam, and a Spanish version. Also I've heard Boston plays a different mix of it, so I'm not sure if that's yet another mix too. The video for "Give it to you" should debut on MTV on March 10, and "The Box" is already playing it.
2/26/99- Well if you didn't notice on Entertainment Tonight, after a lot of thought and consideration, Jordan decided to self title the album:) I noticed this today, and who knows how long this has been this way, but there's a new song listed on Jordan's site called "When You're Lonely". The strange thing is his first single "Give it to you" is not listed on his track list. Since the track listing has changed since I posted it in June, I'll repost which looks like the final version of the track listing.
1. A Different Party
2. Broken By You
3. Close My Eyes
4. Change my ways
5. Finally Finding Out
6. Never Take the Place
7. Can I Come Over Tonight
8. When You're Lonely
9. Don't Run
10. Separate Ways
The following will probably be on there, but are not listed right now...
Give it to You
Give it to You (Spanish version) What would that be?... "Te le doy"?? Can any Spanish speakers help me out... I don't remember the right grammar, hee hee.
Give it to You (95 South Remix)
2/10/99- Jordan's got a release date finally!! Well this is according to MTV news online, so it's subject to change, yada, yada, but as of right now it's April 6, 1999!!! Jordan's finishing up his video in LA today and tomorrow, and the theme will be like the last scene from "Grease" with a carnival theme. His promo tour will begin on February 21 now, cities to be announced later this week.
2/1/99- Jordan's album is still set to be released late March/Early April, and it will be released worldwide on the same day. He will include 2 remixes for "Give it to you": one in Spanish, and one with the group 95 South. He is filming his video for "Give it to You" this weekend in LA. It will be directed by Darren Grant and it will have lots of dancing. Jordan will promote his CD in 15 cities starting February 16 and then have his first concert on Feb 27 in Miami.
1/29/99- "Give it to You" is now #1 on Power 96!!! Keep up the requests:) The only other radio station I know that has been playing his song is XL 106.7 in Orlando- And Jordan's song is kicking some butt on their new song competition where it goes up against another song!! I think all the radio stations around the US should have the song by now, so start requesting it! Also the single is still set to be available in stores on 2/16, and you can now order it on CD Now. I noticed on the information there that Jordan's labels is listed as "UNI/INTERSCOPE" I'm thinking the "Uni" thing might be "Universal" but I'm not sure. Oh, well as long as we're hearing Jordan's voice again soon:)
1/22/99- Jordan's first single "Give it to You" will be in stores on February 16 (you can pick up the NK's Greatest Hits on the same day). The song should be at radio stations next week- So start requesting next week- it worked for Power 96.. Jordan was # 1 on the countdown there, and last I checked his song was #10 on the playlist! Jordan plans on doing a radio promotional tour in Mid- February, and then going overseas.
1/18/99- Jordan updated his site and he's still being a little vague with the release date. He says the album release will be late March/Early April. The first single, "Give it to You" will be at radio stations the week of January 25, however the single will not be in stores until mid- February. He still has some last minute mixing to do with Jam and Lewis which he'll be doing next week. Jordan decided to go back with Interscope, so I hopefully they won't delay this album anymore.
1/12/99- Jordan will be in Los Angeles this week to meet with record companies. Next Monday, January 18, he will announce on his official site what label his album will be on, and the big release date!
1/8/99-I haven't heard the Jordan interview from this morning first hand, but here's some of what people have been saying. First his album should be out in February- But it will not be released on his site:( However, he plans on having some clips of his songs on the site soon. Jordan says he has 3 labels that want to sign right now. He said to be watching his site in the next few days for updates. He is planning a small tour too (Starting early February, the only city so so far is Miami). The station also played a clip of "A Different Party". This may still be officially the first single.
1/7/99- Jordan's planning a tour right now. His first performance will be in Miami sometime in February. He is working with Darrin Henson, who will be working with Jordan on the choreography. He will also be on Boston's 94.5 fm on Friday morning playing some more cuts off his album!
12/22/98- Jordanknight.com says that Power 96 played his song (I think it's called "Give it to Me") 9 times last week, so let all request to hear him!
12/19/98- I've heard that another one of Jordan's songs (I Could Give You??) was played on a radio station in Miami (power 96). So who knows, maybe some other radio stations around the country have his album. No word yet on how to order his CD.
12/3/98- Jordan made his solo debut on Kiss 108 last night!!!! It's now official, his Prince song remake is "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man" and they played that last night on Kiss 108. I haven't hear the song yet, but I heard people liked it! Jordan is going to be selling the album on his site, details coming soon.
12/1/98- There is a big merger going on with Interscope, so Jordan is not going to be releasing his album on that label. However, Jordan said that it is possible that he will be able to sell his CD on his website before it hits the stores! They are still trying to work out the details on that. They still haven't decided for sure what the first single will be. Someone asked Jordan when his album will be out or when the first single will be on the radio, and Jordan said January, but I'm not sure if he ment the album will be out, or the song will be on the radio.
11/22/98- From what I hear, Jordan is in Las Vegas filming his first music video this week!
10/25/98 Well, I'm sure you probably suspected this by now, but I just saw the track listing for the "Rugrats" soundtrack, and Jordan was NOT on there:-(
10/7/98- Unfortunately, Jordan was sick last night for the chat, but his manager, Miguel answered a few questions about the album. The album was turned in to the record company last week! It was also sent to 10 other countries. According to him, the album will have a more pop sound, with a little R & B and alternative sounds. He says his voice is different, and he doesn't use his falsetto as much. Jordan will do a promo tour in the US in January, and will have actual performances in the spring of 1999. It looks like the first single will be "A Different Party", at least in the US, in other countries, it might be different. The release of ADP will probably be in the first two weeks of January. (I guessing the album will be out about a month later) The video for "A Different Party" will be shot at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. It is said to be an "eye candy" video (hopefully that means lots of close up shots of Jordan), it was said in an earlier update that his video will have several cameos by "famous" people.
9/25/98- The name of the other song that could possibly be the single is "I Could Give You", but they still haven't decided between that song and "A Different Party". The first single should be out before Christmas. If Jordan's album does really well he will have a fully costumed dance trouped tour! Let's hope it does good enough so he will tour!
9/16/98- Jordan is in Minneapolis again this week working on that last song, which may actually be the single instead of "A Different Party". They are getting close to knowing the release dates of the single and the album, and they should be announced on October 1 when Jordan does his chat. I've also been hearing, although I still don't have the official word from Jordan's site, but it looks like his Prince cover will be "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man" after all. I posted the lyrics to that song here.
9/6/98- According the this interview, Jordan's album won't be out until... ready? January- ugh. Well we waited this long didn't we? We can can wait another ( let's see here) ....four months... On a happier note, this album should not be the last, Jordan signed a seven album contract with Interscope Records. In the article it said that Jordan played the keyboards in some of the songs. The sound of the album should be "R&B flavored but with elements of hip-hop and alternative as well".
8/9/98- A correction from the last update, The song "Back In your heart" is one of the songs that won't be on the album. My guess is that "Broken Heart" and "Broken By You" must be the same song, they just changed the title, and now there are 9 songs listed on the Studio J part of Jordan's site, so they must not have released the name of the new song they're working on yet.
8/4/98- Well Jordan is going back to Minneapolis to work on that last song (I believe the name of it is "Broken By You") again next week. His album will only have 10 songs on it now- bummer. (I wanted the 12 or 13 I thought were going to be on there) The songs that didn't make it were, "Broken Heart", "Tell Me Why", and "Say Goodbye". His entire album will be mixed by Jam and Lewis's mix engineer, Steve. I also heard that his song "A Different Party" may also be included on the soundtrack to "Rugrats", but there's no confirmation on that yet. He will start filming his first video ("A Different Party") in Las Vegas soon. By the way, I looked at all the new releases up through September, and I didn't see Jordan's there, so it looks like October now.
7/30/98- Jordan turned in his album to Interscope, but they want him to do one more song. He was in Minneapolis last week working with Jam and Lewis on that song. The name of the first single is "A Different Party", which will be released in September (we hope!).
6/13/98-Well jordanknight.com released all the titles of the songs for Jordan's new album- except the Prince song, so I guess we have to wait a little more to find out what that one is. Here's the rest of the list:
A Different Party
Broken Heart
Close my eyes
Change my ways
Finally Finding Out
The Prince Cover
Can I come over Tonight?
Don't Run
Back in Your Heart
Separate Ways
Tell Me Why
Say GoodbyeAlso the album is set to go to Interscope on June 22, and the album should be released in late September or early October!!
6/3/98- Jordan is finishing up in LA this week, and then next week he heads back to Minneapolis for a few final touches with Jam and Lewis. According to KKO, he is set to send his album tapes to Interscope in two weeks!! I hope this is for sure this time! :)
5/27/98- Jordan spent May 12-19 in Minneapolis with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis at Flyte Tyme Studios. He is in California this week working with Robin Thicke on the rest of the album. I received an email about the song "I'll Be Your King" the song was originally recorded by Jordan, but he decided not to put the song on his album, so Michael Africk did. (The song was written by Michael and his producer Miguel Pessoa).
5/5/98- I just visited Michael Africk's site, and one of his songs is called "I'll Be Your King" so I think that it is not one of the Jordan is going to do (as I said in an earlier update) but rather one of Michael's songs. I still haven't heard any confirmation on what Prince song he did yet...
5/2/98- Jordan's album should be out in September now. I would guess the album is not going to be sent to Interscope by May 15, as originally planned, because according the the JordanKnight.com update, he will be in Minneapolis that day, working some songs with Jam and Lewis!
4/22/98- Well these are just rumors, but I heard the Prince song he is going to remake might be "I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man". I another song title is "I'll Be Your King", but of course I don't know for sure (I found that on the JordanKnight.com Message Board)
4/12/98- According to Jordan, his first single should be out this July! He doesn't have a name for the album yet.
4/2/98- JordanKnight.com's April update says that they are trying to get his album to Interscope Records by May 15, of course who knows how longs it's going to take to get it in the stores after that. He's still working with Jam and Lewis this month (In Mpls =)), and he is also working with Robin Thicke and Michael Africk (a new artist). Another name of one of his songs is "Finally Finding Out". He's also going to do a cover of a Prince song (yeah!! I'm really excited now, because Prince is another one of my favorite artists, after Jordan of course), but I don't know which one.
3/20/98- Ok, here's the latest from JordanKnight.com: Jordan still has to record 2 more songs in LA, (when is he ever going to be done with the "last few tracks"?!? lol) He is still working with Jam and Lewis this month. There are going to be 12 tracks on his album when it comes out. It also stated a guy named Robin Thicke is doing some of the producing. It still looks like it will be out this summer (yeah!!, no more delays- at least for now)
2/28/98- According to Keep Keepin' On, Jordan has only three more songs to work on with producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and he'll be in Minneapolis, finishing the album this week.
2/10/98- According to KKO, Jordan still needs to record three or four more songs for his new album this month. It should be out this summer. By the way, in case you were wondering the song he did on ET is called "Don't Run".
2/8/98- Jordan's album will be out this summer, according to jordanknight.com.
