- This old Finnish quilt was made by Grandma
- Katainen on her treadle Singer in the '40s.
- After keeping everybody warm for
- 50-odd years, it ended up pretty threadbare.
- Finally enduring the Red River flood in
- Grand Forks in 1998, Edie salvaged it
- from the required discards, washed it a
- few times, took it completely apart,
- repaired each square even reproducing grandma's
"mistakes", added new backing
- & stuffing, and it's ready for bed again.
