From the Bored of Education:

Speaking as a former hellion and outcast in school, I think using drugs to "control" kids is a criminal act !

It breaks my heart to see millions of kids being herded
into the free-world's most dangerous busses every day,
being condemned to face another umpteen years of norm-paced routines,
being groomed for a lifetime of overtime,
being expected only to conform.

The REAL reason a child is over-active
(not a disease)
is probably because he's bored!
Young minds
move
WAY
faster
than ours,
the learning
window starts to
close by
age
seven,
yet here we are, plugging along in this almighty archaic school system, imprisoning young people until they're 18!
If we're going to do that, at LEAST keep their minds busy.
My mother managed to graduate at age 15,
and went on to college!
What's wrong with that?
Yet when I mention this at a PTA meeting,
people go right back to debating next week's lunch menu.
Am I THAT far off-track?
Don't parents care?
ARE we obedient little creatures of habit?
Speak up :)
What has gotten INTO you people?
Are you even afraid of "today's" principal?
Will we still be using the school system as babysitters in another 50 years?
There's no mystery here folks, only millions of bored young minds
who are doomed to pay dearly for the apathy of their elders.
Nobody can TEACH a kid anyway,
you expose him to everything you can,
find out where his aptitude is,
loan him the tools to learn,
and get out of his way.
period.

If we can feed their imaginations at home,
if peers can feed their imaginations on the steet,
then teachers can do it in school.

Over 50 years ago, my favorite(-to be) teacher asked us the first day in class,
"What do you like about math?"
When the question finally got back to him,
then he proceeded to show us stuff we'd never imagined!
WAY COOL!

But we're on the job front now folks.
While we celebrate this great economy
and drive bubble cars with airbags,
please don't forget that our future
sits TRAPPED in classrooms,
waiting to be hauled back and forth in
top-heavy tin trucks without even seat belts!
Who cares? Kids do, that's who! :)
So it becomes the duty of kids to educate US.
If YOU really want to learn,
your kids will be happy
to loan you the tools.

Ask your kids. ASK your kids! ASK your KIDS !!

Ask your kids. Please.
