Story of the year: Web-surfer actually clicks on banner ad! (This site doesn't support these ads...I got no choice)

A few choice sites I'd advise to interested people.

Twin Cities Links

Twincityscape -This site was my true inspiration. I got to know the owner, Josh Larson, who died on October 6th, 2000, in a tragic car accident in western Iowa. His dedicated friend, Brian, has kept the site up as a living memory. This is a great local and unprofessional site that offers news, pictures, diagrams, and lots of other goodies. Brian has done a great job of giving the site its revival, including a new URL address, updated news, and a continuing collection of photos.

St. Paul Phototour -A site begun on June 1st, 2001, the St. Paul Phototour presents an excellent look at every neighborhood in the city, complete with pictures and even elegant maps in many cases. Full of information, excellent photos, and it gives full attention to the smaller Twin City! That already gives it pointers over all the other sites in my eyes! Note: the site seems to be down as of late. I will continue to check back on the status of this site.

Lilek.com's Minneapolis! -A very common Minneapolis related link. A journalist with the Star Tribune, Lilek features great info and historic photos of Minneapolis, and even Fargo, ND! Only two things bugged me. They don't accept links and it has NO Saint Paul!

Phototour of Minneapolis -No site about the Twin Cities should neglect this great site. Chris Gregerson owns the site, involved in his local community and definitely enjoys the city of Minneapolis, which he photographs extensively (over 1,000 photos are present!). Photographs from all around the city, neighborhoods, retail districts, and yes, he is just starting into Saint Paul too! Hopefully, I'll be able to be as extensive with Saint Paul...but I've started with a digital camera I bought after seeing the great quality they turn out (on his site in particular). This is probally the most well-known local photo site on the internet.

The city of Saint Paul. -Simplistic, and easy to navigate, Saint Paul didn't go for the fancy, hi-tech technology like others would prefer. I especially like their comprehensive index, so it's that much easier to find what you need. Overall, a good site to go to, but they aren't interested in linking to city advocates like me, what a bummer!

The city of Minneapolis -Minneapolis's city government site. I personally find Saint Paul's more helpful. This seems like the typical government stuff, but they do have a few great links and information on the city itself.

Saint Paul Pioneer Press -A major source of Saint Paul information, the Pioneer Press is the state's second largest newspaper and the oldest newspaper still in circulation. Often, the paper covers small stories on Saint Paul and has put together very comprehensive reports on downtown projects. I visit the site almost everyday, and if you want to learn more about news in the state, this is the place to go. Note: When you click this link, you will have to follow through to www.twincities.com, where the Pioneer Press is now located.

Minneapolis Star Tribune -The Minneapolis newspaper and the state's largest. I personally like the Pioneer Press more when it comes to the paper, but the Star Tribune's site is well organized and covers a lot of worthwhile stories that makes it a good site to visit as well.

KARE 11 News -The Twin Cities NBC affiliate. I go to the site basically to get weather reports, but I definitely think their site is worth visiting since they usually have interesting links that follow-up their reports on TV. However, for more in-depth coverage of news topics, it is best to visit one of the newspapers. KARE11 doesn't tend to give deep coverage of their stories.

Urban Issues Links

Urbanphoto.org -Great site owned by Chris DeWolf and Chris Szabla, two of the best advocates for urban life that I know. Their site is really a great place to check out for a variety of different cities, mostly ones that don't get the exposure that other cities do (like Kamloops, BC...who ever photographed that?). Their new forum, le caf?d'urbanit? has opened, where I am a member (MrMN, the same as other forums). I definitely think a visit is in order!

www.skyscrapers.com -Excellent site that has information and height lists for many cities around the world. The most complete lists of Twin Cities buildings I've ever seen. A MUST SEE! I must warn you that you need to register to be able to access every part of the site.

www.skyscraperpage.com -Has lots of links, pictures, and a very popular forum (which I frequent). Just recently, the forum has moved to a new server and is really doing great. I highly advise visiting the site since there is a lot of information and representation for cities around the world. I'm currently representing Saint Paul (and Minneapolis) at the site.

Fotki.com albums (Randy Sandford) -Someone I know from the skyscraperpage.com forums, Randy now has a presence on fotki.com! If you ever wanted to see Birmingham, Alabama, this is the way to do it. Randy also provides various pictures of other places and renderings. His pictures of Seattle and Portland were stunning and I hope they all make it in his albums on fotki.com. Randy's website is Birmingham Design and is also a must see!

Other/Unrelated Links

Dragongod -My brother's site. Kind of a wild card. Was originally devoted to a Dragonball Z RPG for the Super Famicon (A.K.A. Super Nintendo here in the U.S.). Now, it's a mixture of SNES Roms, animations, HTML tutorial, and other miscellaneous stuff that is worth a visit. Besides, he taught me a few things for use on my site, like mapping links (my navigation bar), tables, and other basic HTML goodies that looked too complicated at first.

Tony and Tanya's Site -Home of my brother and family in Wisconsin. Just starting up, it offers monthly goodies like pictures, jokes, and some personal insight...well it did. It has not been updated since June 2001 so it is already months out of date.
