Ancestors of Delora Mae Hawkins

Notes

640. George Pownall

I found George and Eleanor Pownall on "The Friends Adventure", sept, 1682. The master of the ship was Thomas Wall, one of
William Penn's fleet. They had with them Reuben, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, and Abigail (children)

These 2 websites list this ship as well as many others

There is a wonderful short history of George POWNALL found in the Bucks County Pennsylvania History, Quakers, including ship
information. Look up the film number in the Family History Library Catalog of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The land recordings, circumstances of his death, indentured servants, etc are included.

641. Eleanor Carter

See my article "Quaker Marriage Certificates" in "The American Genealogist"
vol. 72 (1997), pp. 225-243, which includes, as one example, an argument that Eleanor's
maiden name was probably either Worrall or Gardner. She was probably a sister of
either Peter Worrall of Bucks co., PA or of Peter's wife Mary Gardner. More evidence
would be needed to confirm this connection.
