Getting started

Welcome to Akeva, your 21st century service provider. Here are some easy-to-use instructions to help you get started. If you have any questions while configuring your set up, please call our customer service number: (1-877-754-2997) and we’ll be glad to help you.

By following these instructions (for the Internet Explorer browser only) you will be able to get online and send and receive e-mail in a matter of minutes.

Akeva Necessary Information.
You may need the following information to set up your browser software:

* Login account/username
* Login password
* Local dial-up access telephone numbers
* Domain name/home page: akeva.com
* Primary Domain Name Server (DNS) address: ns1.akeva.com
* Secondary (backup) DNS address: ns2.akeva.com
* Your e-mail address: username@akeva.com
* Your e-mail name: same as login account
* Your e-mail password: same as login password
* POP3 and IMAP4 e-mail server: mail.akeva.com
* Web-based email server: mail.akeva.com
* Akeva FTP server: http://webmail.akeva.com

INTERNET USERS AGREE TO COMPLY WITH THE ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

Following are instructions for manual installation of various Internet Explorer browsers.

Microsoft IE

1. At the Windows desktop, click on MY COMPUTER.

2. Double click on the CONTROL PANEL.

3. Double click on the INTERNET ICON and select the CONNECTIONS tab.

4. Click on the SETUP button.

5. When the CONNECTION WIZARD screen appears, select the third choice (Setup Manually) and click on next.

6. When the Setting Up Your Internet Connection window appears, select … using your phone line, then click on next.
7. If you get the screen that says "Choose Modem", click next.
8. When the Step 1 of 3: window appears, type your local access code. Alexandria 762-7262, for Glenwood 634-4086, for Mora 679-7063. Then remove the checkmark for the area code. Click next.
9. On the Step 2 of 3: window, type in your username and password, which can be found on your service agreement, then click next.
10. When Step 3 of 3: window appears, enter the connection name Akeva Internet Service and click on next.
11. When your Set Up Your Internet Mail Account window appears, click on yes to "Do you want to setup
your Internet Mail now?" then click next.
12. From the next window select "Create a new Internet Mail Account". Click on next.
13. In the next window enter your Display Name (enter your full name, or a name you would like people to see when you send email), then click next.
14. When the next window appears enter your Internet E-mail Address (type in your e-mail address in lowercase letters) which can be found on your service agreement. Click next.
15. When the E-mail Server Names window appears, the incoming mail server POP3 should be selected, then type in both boxes, mail.akeva.com (lowercase), then click next.
16. When the Internet Mail Login window appears, type in your account name and password in lowercase letters (both can be found on your service agreement), then click next. Do Not Select: Log on using Secure Password Authentication).
17. When the Completing the Internet Connection Wizard window appears, uncheck the box labeled, To connect to the Internet immediately, then click on Finish.

18. You are now done with setting up using Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 / 5.5 / 6.0.
