About Us

Our Troop is made up of Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes!
Our troop is unique in that all of our girls are homeschooled. We strive
to meet the needs and schedules of homeschooled girls in the Wayne/Washtenaw
counties.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the meeting times?
Can parents stay during the meeting?
- It
is our preference that parents not stay in the meeting room, unless asked to
do so. This is due to the
limited amount of space and the noise level that accompanies chatting
parents. We understand that
some younger children may feel uncomfortable at first without their mom or
dad. You are free to stay for
the first few meetings to help your daughter adjust. After that, please know that you are leaving your
daughter in safe, capable hands. The
building is secure and the leaders have gone through background checks,
interviews and have received specialized training.
- There
is a parent/child room available on site for parents and children.
What is the uniform standard?
- Brownies:
Brownie Vest, Light Blue Shirt And Tan Pants
- Juniors:
Junior Vest, White Shirt, Tan Pants
- Cadettes:
Cadette Vest, Light Blue Shirt and Tan Pants
- All girls should wear closed-toed, closed-heeled, rubber-soled shoes at
all times. For ceremonies and field trips, we highly recommend plain
white tennis shoes.
Any other uniform parts (official GS shirts/pants/skorts,
etc.) are completely optional. There
will be occasions when the girls will need to be dressed to match as close as
possible. On these occasions, we ask that you follow the uniform
standard as set forth above.
As a parent, what are my responsibilities to the troop?
- Please
be sure to drop your daughter off & pick her up on time.
This is very important to the limited amount of time for the meetings
and between the meetings (Brownies & Juniors). The doors to the building
remain locked at all times. There
will be someone at the doors starting 10 minutes before each meeting to let
you in. At the end of each
meeting, we will walk upstairs to meet the parents.
- You
must notify the leader, in person, if you have made arrangements for your
daughter go home with someone other than yourself. (i.e. having a child
say “I’m going home with xxxxx today is not acceptable).
- Dues
are $5 a month, due the first meeting of every month.
- It
is the responsibility of the Girl Scout & her parents to provide the
Official Girl Scout Vest and the Junior Handbook & Badge Book (for
Juniors) or Brownie Handbook & Try-It Book (for Brownies).

What about earned awards and recognitions?
- If
your daughter chooses to work on Badges (Juniors) or Try-Its (Brownie) on
her own at home, she/you will need to complete a form and return it to the
leader on the specified dates. Along
with this form, you will need to turn in $1.25 for each Try-It ($1.00
for Junior Badges and $1.05 for Cadette Patches) earned and
an example of some of the work that your daughter has done to complete her
Badges/Try-Its. These specified
dates (check your parent news) are also a time to complete any of the
requirements that say “Share with a group” or “Teach it to others.”
- Any
awards earned as a troop, during troop meeting times are paid for with troop
funds. You only need to pay for the Badges/Try-Its that your daughter earns on her own.
- Brownie
Try-Its: You must complete 4 of the listed requirements.
- Junior
Badges: You must complete 6 of the listed requirements.
- Cadettes: Two Activities from the "Skill Builder" Section, One
Activity from the "Technology" Section, One Activity from the
"Service Project" Section, One Activity from the "Career
Exploration" Section and any two additional activities from any of the
sections.
- ***There
is no “Double Dipping” when it comes to requirements, meaning you
can’t do ONE activity to fulfill two requirements from different Badges or
Try-Its. For Example: (Juniors)
The “Girl Scouting In My Future” badge & the “The Choice Is
Yours” badge both require planning a service project. You can not plan one service project and have it count
towards both badges. You will
need to complete two different service projects.*****
How can my daughter contact other members of the troop?
- We
are currently circulating a Troop Roster with all of the names, telephone
numbers & addresses of the girls in the troop.
We are also in the process of creating a troop website.
We ask that you not give out the information on either the roster or
the website address to people outside of our troop.
What if I have more questions that aren’t answered
here?
