Lynn Anderson
Laurolyn Shelties
1931-2002
Lynn Anderson was born and lived most of her life in Michigan. She was one of
the founders of the Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Detroit and served as
president and many other offices through out her association with the Club. In
1986, do to health reasons, Lynn moved to Florida where she was a welcomed
member of the Mid-Florida Shetland Sheepdog Club. She said she moved to Florida
to die, but she liked it so well she extended her expiration date.
A few of Lynn’s proudest moments, other than human family, were as breeder of
Ch. Laurolyn Pattie O M-B, owned by Pokey Morey. Pattie was BB at the 1964 ASSA
National. Owner of Ch. Morribrooks’ Gadabout, “Happy,” her first champion, and
later on breeder/owner of Ch. Laurolyn Solo, who was the light of her life.
There were other dogs and champions, but these her most memorable. She applied
for her judges license in 1973 and enjoyed judging and traveling, but do to
health reasons she had to retire from judging in 1996.
“How do you sum up 40 years? Lynn says “Not a lot of champions produced, but I
was after certain qualities, I am proud of what I did in Shelties, and the
Laurolyn dogs will be around for a while.”
When asked what Sheltie quality do you feel best describe you, she said “loyal.”
She was certainly that and more, she was mentor to many of the SSCGD Club
members and well as the Club. Some SSCGD members bought their first sheltie from
Lynn and started in obedience and conformation with her help and encouragement.
The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Greater Detroit and the Mid-Florida Shetland
Sheepdog Club have lost a good friend and mentor.
