Jane Asher

Jane Asher was an actress in England and was gaining popularity in the 60's by hosting music shows for teens. She also was featured in the film, "Alfie", among others.

I've read that Paul and Jane got along famously, and that Paul was very proud to have such a lovely girlfriend. She evidentally had really pretty red hair and a unique look. Paul spent a lot of time at Jane's home and felt comfortable with her family, including brother Peter Asher (one half of the folky 60's group, Peter and Gordon).

Paul and Jane were engaged for a period of time while the Bealtes were at the hights of their popularity. Looking at a Beatles picture book entitled, "The Beatles, Unseen Archives", it is evident that as time went on, the two began to grow apart. Their engagement ended in the late 60's. Paul married Linda Eastman awhile later.

Since Paul was with Jane for much of the Beatles period, it can be assumed, as well as known, that Paul wrote many of his great Beatles love songs with Jane as inspiration. Some notable ones include "Good Day Sunshine", "Here There and Everywhere", and "For No One" (a personal favorite).
