St Urban/Pope Urban I
St. Urban's feast day is May 25th. Urban I reigned from 222-230. He was to have baptized the bridegroom of St. Cecilia. He also was presiding at the burial of St. Cecilia. St Urban is the patron saint of vineyards, since the 13th century, this is a carry over from Bishop Urban of Langers (5th century). In Germany due to the correlation of the feast day with the end of the ordering of the vineyards against danger of frost.
Urban was said to have instructed that the chalice and paten are to be made from silver or gold.
It is not certain where St. Urban is buried. His burial place is thought to be at the catacombs of St. Callixtus in Rome. His tombstone is in Greek, which was the official language of the Roman Church at his death.
In the Middle Ages, Law key date for the possession of produce of vineyards. Rich customs of possessions of field and petition. Urban was said to have taken bread and dipped it into the wine of the Rheingau vintners to the old and the sick (arisen around 1945). Sunshine on Urban's day thought to give good vintage.
