Written and researched by Margaret Odrowaz-Sypniewski

Adalbert of Prague was born circa 956 in Lubice. He was the son of Prince Slavik. Adalbert was educated in Magdeburg. He was murdered by the pagan Prussians on April 23, which is now his Feast Day. He is buried in Gniezno Cathedral where he was ordained. In 1000, Emperor Otto II went on a pilgrimage to Adalbert's tomb. Adalbert is the patron saint of Bohemia.
