Some of you may have earplug speakers or use earbuds to hear the audio better over the wind noise. However, unable to plug directly into the bike's intercom system, have resorted to just receiving the music from your CD/MP3. I have developed an adapter that solves this problem. It plugs into the dash and velcros in place (no need to remove it every time). When the ear speakers are plugged into the adapter, the audio is routed through the ear speakers and the mic is hot. When not plugged in, the audio goes through the helmet speakers. This would allow you to receive all the audio systems from your bike directly in your ear and be able to turn the volume down. The best of both worlds! Just to let you know that this is available, in case someone in the club is interested. The cost is $55 and quantity discounts are available. Adapters for HD, Honda, J&M, Autocom and Chatter Box are also available. Thank you for your time. Marilyn Navia, M.S., FAAA Now Hear This 10265 N.W. 56 Street Miami, Fl 33178 305 477-2333

Greetings Folks, March 1st is a good day to firm up riding details. For myself, it is exactly one month away from normative initial calendar riding date (like to see a heavy rain wash that winter SAND away first!) And for Great Haul II, it is a date of affirmation - IT APPEARS WE ARE A GO! You are on this e mail list due to your expressed interest or firm commitment to GREAT HAUL II (bike transport from Midwest to Spokane BMWMOA Rally) I am getting a bit overtaken with e mails and if by chance you are on here by my error, simply let me know and I apologize. Further, as more updates come through, you can simply request removal should your interest/circumstances change. You will see other addresses added. This is the first of a series, a few weeks apart, of "general memo's" that will be sent to our "flock". I will use this means to update the status of ongoing sign ups and particular logistics. CURRENT MARKETING: I am concentrating on four states: IL, MI, IN, OH, & WI. Clubs and dealers within those four states have been contacted. My strongest push is through the Spokane Rally Page, BMWMOA. I am half way through the alphabet of several hundred listings (sending a note to any folks from the four states). It is all paying off and after only a few weeks, it appears obvious GREAT HAUL II is a reality. -very grateful to you for spreading the news among friends SUGGESTIONS/PLANS FOR COMMUNICATIONS: E mail is the ideal means at this point for most info. You can keep an eye on my thread, Great Haul II, within the rally forums on the Spokane page (pictures of Great Haul I even!) I will be making very general entries there on occasion. My cell phone has been greatly improved, superb service from my home, and you can use that as you feel a need: 231-651-1991 (prefer wknds or eves...7:00 to 10:30 pm/ET) FAX 231-352-9940 GUIDING PRINCIPLES OF THE HAUL: I take this on for the spirit of my history with the club and my own adventure. I take delight in combining my skills and enjoyment with bikes and trucking...i.e.very diverse and extensive experience with both. The operation has no profit motive. It has business dimensions to it that I take seriously and intend to minimize our financial costs and my risk (projection allows for coming out a bit ahead?..though alot of time goes into planning?) You have to respect my numerous variables of this operation unknown to you. I WILL RESPECT YOUR NEEDS FOR FIRM SCHEDULES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR YOUR PLANNING. I enjoy seeing us all content! GENERAL LOGISTICS TO THIS POINT OF PLANNING: You have the schedule and anticipated route that will unfold with sign ups. The maximum comfortable number of bikes is closer to 20,25 (trip can be firmed up with 20..it will happen) The westbound haul is likely the most active leg for bikes and few round trip hauls? (same scenario played out with Redmond) -westbound has a more tight time schedule...i.e.load MI(OH) bikes on Fri, 7/9, truck departs officially on Sunday afternoon, overnights in W. Chicago..load Monday, CHI & WI) -rig likely parked in Spokane...7/15 to 7/22...eastbound hauls, riding time / myself, taking in a slice of Glacier National on my bike -eastbound run can be a smaller load of bikes...can supplement with secured/palleted partial freight load MISC: Regular haulers of bikes charge more, but they do make "driveway pickups" within their more irregular schedule. I can give a firm schedule but for the most part, I can't do "driveway pickups/deliveries". My loading and unloading will principally be done in a group fashion and/or near an interstate. We will make this dimension work as line up of bikes develops. I best leave it at that for now. You will see other topics covered in future "general memos": -Insurance; Spokane Motel central base; Tie down and Loading technique (loading improved from Redmond..?...no ramp, for good reason, standard trailer height..will explain) Again, my sincere thanks to this point for your interest. And hey..doesn't reading this...planning your trip, beat following politics in an election year!? just, Ray Cotter proud of my number, 5807, BMWMOA

I am no stranger to coming across the troops from Mid MI Club! And now I came across your thread response at the rally Forum for upcoming Spokane Rally. You may have already heard of my "project" through a mailing to your club. I am offering a "fly & ride" Haul of bikes to Spokane (not everyone has the time for both ways...or who wants to go thru Chicago twice?) -the details of the offering are listed under my thread, Great Haul II -as with my haul into Portland for the Redmond Rally, this is more of an adventure for me/riders than a "for profit"...just cover costs...urged on by Rally officials -favor getting bikes on in MI...but, Chicago bikers already in the lead for customers; GRATEFUL...for any effort on your club in getting the message out and ride up to gorgeous Benzie County! BMW Motorrad USA at AMA Mid-Ohio Vintage
Posted by admin on Jan 30, 2004 5:09:06 PM EST
Dear BMW Riders,
Two pieces of event news that you will want to know.

First of all, we've made the decision not to go forward with the Rally at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville at the end of May. It's a great location in a particularly beautiful part of the country, with great roads and off-road areas, too, and we may decide to revisit our plans there for the future. But for now, we've decided to pursue another location that we hope will not disappoint.

BMW Motorrad USA will be at the AMA Mid-Ohio Vintage Days rally on July 16 -18 with an enhanced presence. As many of you know, BMW will be the featured Marque of the Year at this event and we want to celebrate this great honor (and our 81st. birthday) in style. We hope that BMW riders both on vintage and modern bikes will flood the rally and show the world how many of us there really are out there.

Our celebrations will include not only the BMW Demo Trucks but our Mobile Tradition Exhibition as seen at Daytona Bike Week, the 80th. Anniversary Rally at Squaw Valley, and the Lime Rock Vintage Car Races last year. There will be a complete schedule of events announced at the beginning of March and additional surprises unveiled at the event itself.

For those BMW MOA members who are planning to attend the MOA National in Spokane, WA on the same weekend in July, and like us feel torn between two great rallies, never fear, we will have a presence at the MOA as well. We'll make an announcement on our activities at the MOA next month on this site.

In the meantime, we encourage BMW riders to see us in Daytona for the second BMW Motorrad International BoxerCup races to be held at the Daytona Speedway on the morning of Saturday, March 6. For those of you who can't make it down to sunny (hopefully not rainy this time) Florida, we recommend watching Speed Channel's live airing of the race. If you like to see Boxer cylinder heads mashing each other at 150 mph, this is the race for you!

And if you do plan to make it to Daytona, don't forget to check out the Daytona Hilton at 800-525-7350 or 386-767-7350 for the BMW Rider Rate and do join us for our Friday night "Start Your Engines" pre-race party, also at the Hilton.

We hope you can join us!
Best wishes and Ride Safe,
BMW Motorrad USA
