Michigan HOBY

Read me first!

When is it? The Michigan HOBY seminar will be from May 30th to June 1st, 2003. All TA's will need to be at the seminar site (provisionally Hillsdale College) on the afternoon of Thursday, May 29th. To be a TA, you must be at the seminar for the entire time.

What's this "Michigan HOBY" thing? Michigan HOBY no longer has two sites (East and West). The former East site is no longer associated with HOBY, so the former West/North site now has become all of Michigan HOBY. We still serve the same area.

Old-timers only: What the heck is a TA? Don't worry, you're still in the right place! Last year, Michigan North-West changed the name "Junior Counselor" (or JC) to "Team Alumni" (or TA). Everything else is still the same -- all of the fun, energy, enthusiasm, cheering, and sheer awesomeness of life as a JC won't change!

Things you must do

  • MOST IMPORTANTLY - Due to changes in HOBY, all ambassadors are required to pay $150 to attend a HOBY seminar. We do NOT want to leave anyone behind simply because they can't pay. So, every TA MUST raise $500, due in full before the seminar.

  • Also, you must send in a picture of yourself -- so that we can recognize you! :) The pictures may be used to make a TA board that will be used during the seminar. Please try to make this a face shot only! Find a scanner if need be, and e-mail it to mihoby2003@hotmail.com.

  • Please remember to send in your permission slip and medical forms. If those are not turned in before the seminar, you'll have to go back home to get them (We will have these available on the web shortly, so you can print them out, sign them, and send them in).

  • If you have any questions, please call Brad Harris at 517-355-7142.

  • And finally, please start fundraising as soon as possible. There is a plethora of resources for you to utilize. Some good fundraising tips are at http://www.mathlab.mtu.edu/~dcclark/fundraisingtips.html. Please make use of these, and GOOD LUCK!
