 Question and Answer
1. Why would you be an asset as an elected city official, and what particular focus do you bring?
I would be an asset because I am hardworking and dedicated to the City of Novi. I will listen and communicate effectively with the Novi residents. My diverse professional background will provide the ability to represent Novi's broad spectrum of individuals and interests. Because Novi residents have indicated a need for balance between development and the environment, I will place emphasis on this issue. Other areas of focus will include safety, traffic and park and recreation facilities. I will strive to increase activities for all ages while improving the sense of community.
2. What do you hope to accomplish during the next four years if elected and what action would you take to achieve your goals?
City surveys have identified preservation of natural resources to be of primary concern. I agree with this concern and will make it a priority if elected. I also feel that traffic and infrastructure should be addressed and that recreational facilities should be maintained and appropriately upgraded. The City Council should address these and other issues in a fiscally responsible manner. The administration should focus on the residents' needs and interests and be accountable for their actions. My experience on the sub-committees of the Planning Commission (Environmental, Budget, and Implementation Committees) will allow me to effectively address these goals.
3. What do you see as the major challenge(s) facing your city and how would you address the challenge(s)?
A significant challenge faced by the Novi City Council is the appropriate spending of limited resources. Our growing community must maintain and appropriately increase its current level of safety and other city services without increasing taxes. An increase in overall revenue will result by the recruitment and addition of clean, high-tech businesses while maintaining the vitality of all existing businesses.
