I've been online for over 7 years now!!. . .And I'm a night owl!!
So I spent alot of long nights online!!
And when I first started I had heard about IRC and chatting online and was very curious!!
So the first channel I ever visited was called 40plus in Chatnet. . .and it was better then I ever imagined!!
I met alot of people in there and formed some wonderful friendships!!
Some of which I will never ever forget!!
I even was lucky enough to chat with a very, very special caring man
who has become my very *best* friend
and still chats with me today after 7 years!!
I no longer go into any chat rooms whatsoever!!
But the following poems are very fitting!!
Altho I've never met any of these online friends face to face
and have lost touch thru the years!!
We did meet at one time thru our hearts and minds!!
And I often think of them and wonder what they are doing!!
But I am very thankful for the many nights we got together in 40plus
and chatted and had hours of fun and laughs!!
I'll always treasure those late nights so long ago and never forgotten!!

FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES!!

We sit and type and we stare at our screens,
we all have to wonder what this possibly means!!

We chat with each other, we share our woes,
small groups we do form and gang up on our foes!!

We wait for somebody to type out our name,
we want recognition and offer the same!!

We give kisses and hugs and somtimes we flirt,
in rooms we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt!!

We form friendships but why is a thing we don't know,
though most of them flounder, some of them flourish and grow!!

Why is it that on screen, we can all be so bold,
telling our secrets that have never been told??

Why is it we share those deep thoughts in our mind,
with those we can't see, as though we were blind??

The answer is simple, it's all clear as a bell,
we all have our problems and need someone to tell!!

We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must,
as we turn to the puter, and to those we can trust!!

Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,
they are friends without faces and with odd little names!!

I had some free time, so what did I do??
I checked the computer to see if I'd heard from you!!
I use to walk out to a box to retrieve mail!!
But I'd rather get it instantly, than wait on the snail!!

Checking my e-mail is always fun!!
I usually get a joke or greeting from someone!!
I feel so blessed because on the other end,
I know I've connected with a friend!!

When I've had a hard day and need to share,
Here I can find a friend who will listen and care!!
And to this friend I hope I've let them know,
That I am always there for them also!!

Isn't it a strange kind of bond we form??
It isn't exactly like the "norm"!!
But where is it written, face to face we must be,
For you to be a very good friend to me??
