I'm watching the news right now. Right now it's 10:02 on a Sunday night and a woman on the news was reacting to her son being called into duty so that they'll have enough soldiers for an invasion of Iraq. She said "it's not about family's today, it's about our grandchildren's families." I'm sorry but did I hear correctly? I must have. What else could I have heard? OUR GRANDCHILDREN. Our grandchildren will still be paying the debt incurred by this war. Our grandchildren will still be paying for this war. President Bush is cutting taxes while increasing the military spending. I recently saw a statistic that said we went $1.29 billion dollars a day in deficit, and that's not even considering war debts. That is money that we don't have. That is money that will be next to impossible to get back. That's just the financial burden it will place on our descendants. Notice I say this and I'm still only a teenager. You want to talk about death and destruction and chemical and biological weapons. Now these weapons are in theory for defensive purposes (at least that's why our military has far more chemical and biological weapons than anyone else.) So if these are for defensive purposes then wouldn’t Saddam Hussein be more likely to use them if he's under attack or being pushed to the psychological limit by the one remaining superpower screaming for his head. What about the effects of any chemical or biological weapons being used on US soldiers? Well Gulf War syndrome has been one of those things that the numbers say exist but nothing else does. And that's without an all out chemical or biological weapon attack. What if we send a couple hundred thousand of our soldiers into their cities to fight and die and they release all sorts of horrible chemicals. It would devastate our soldiers. And all this cold feed down into their children and their children's children, depending on the weapons. It could also wipe out huge numbers of Iraqi people. Innocent Iraqi people who did nothing to deserve this. About half a million of those innocent people caught in the crossfire according to UN estimates. Please for the sake of your grandchildren. Stop this war. It's not ethical. It's not about freedom it's about oil. And the president that came from it. Fight terror by learning love. And that will be the end to all wars.
