Elite Athletics for Girls
Talent Competition












300 Participants Only



Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 28.  Minors must have consent of a guardian or parent to enter the competition. 


Participants must be available to attend the American Idol audition in San Francisco, CA on the specified date. 


Family members and friends of Elite Athletics for Girls Board, officers, associates, and/or the judges are not able to participate.   



The judging panel will consist of three (3) qualified judges all of whom have many years singing experience. 


All participants will be judged on vocal ability, stage presence, and overall effect.  Up to 10 points will be given for each area being judged. 


Judges decision is final. 




The auditions will begin promptly at 11:00am.  You must be on time for your audition. No exceptions.  Please do not bring children and/or family and friends to the audition.


During the 1st round of auditions each participant will be given 30 seconds to perform a song of his or her choice.  The song must be performed acappella (no music). 


If the participant advances to the 2nd round they will be required to perform a Motown classic.  This song must also be performed acappella (no music). 


Those participants who advance to the 3rd round will be required to perform a song from the 70’s era. 


Auditions will be held in groups of 25. The 12 participants with the highest scores in each group will move on to the second round.  After the second round of auditions the 4 participants with the highest scores in each group will move on to the third round.  After the third round of auditions the 10 participants with the highest scores will advance to the finals.

Participants who advance in the competition must be available for each round. 


Wild Card

The judges will select two singers, who did not make it to the final round, to fill two wild card spots.  This means that there will be 12 participants in the final round.


Final Round

The twelve (12) participants who make it to the final round must be prepared to sing two songs as seven (7) participants will be eliminate after the first round, leaving only five (5) participants.  The remaining five (5) will compete and a winner will be chosen.  This is the only time that the performers will be allowed to perform with music.  The music must be instrumental with the vocals removed. 


Finalist will be required to show a birth certificate verifying their age prior to the finals. 


All finalists must be available for rehearsal on Tuesday, September 21, at 6:00pm. 



At no time will we tolerate the ridicule of any participant while they are performing.  Anyone who does so will be dismissed and not allowed to audition.  We ask that all participants demonstrate a behavior that we can all be proud of since YOU may be representing the Detroit Metro Area at American Idol 4. 



Each of the 12 finalists will receive an award. 


The winner will receive airfare and hotel accommodations in order that they may attend the American Idol 4 auditions in San Francisco, CA. 


Winner Forfeit

In the event the winner cannot attend the American Idol 4 auditions in San Franciso, the 1st runner –up will be given the opportunity to attend the auditions. 



A registration form, along with the $15 fee must be received by August 27, 2004.

                                                            Release of Liability


I, in my own behalf, or the behalf of a minor, agree to release and to hold harmless Elite Athletics for Girls and St. John’s Health System, aka Releasees, from any and all liability for negligence or any other claim, judgment, loss, liability, cost and expense(including, without limitations, attorney’s fees and costs) arising out of or connected with the Event, including any claim arising out of or connected with any illness or injury that I may incur or sustain during the Event, all activities associated with the Event and while traveling to and from the site for the Event.  I further expressly agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees, their successors, assigns, executors and administrators against loss of any further claims, demands or actions that may subsequently be brought on account of damages of any character resulting in any way from the foregoing activity. I further agree to reimburse and to make good to Releasees any loss, damages or costs Releasees may have to pay as a result of any such action, claim, claim or demand.


Appearance Agreement.  I understand that Elite Athletics for Girls from time to time produces promotional material relating to its programs. I understand as a participant or a spectator at the Event I may be included in videotapes or photographs during the Event.  I, in my own behalf, or the behalf of a minor, Hereby assigns, transfer and grant to Elite Athletics for Girls the exclusive right to photographs and/or videotape which may include me, or said minor and to utilize such videotapes and photographs of me in advertising and promoting the Event or in advertising and promoting future events.



I have read and understand the Release of Liability agreement.
