REVENGE
OF THE QUIRKY GENIUS The Best of
Steve Knowlton and the Knowl-Tones
About The Changes to the Songs
You may have noticed that some of the tracks on Revenge of the Quirky Genius sound a little different from the original versions. Here Steve details what happened to them. In some cases the songs were edited in order to fit all the songs into a 60-minute album (Steve thinks anything longer is pushing the audience's attention) and in some cases tracks were remixed just because Steve wanted to change the sound (early tracks had no vocal reverb).
(I Wanna Be Your) Garbage Man: Remixed and edited to exclude the introductory guitar passage Oar to Oar: Edited to significantly shorten the guitar solo Sea Sick: Remixed and edited to remove third verse Good Neighbor (Spackle and Grout): Remixed so that introduction features drums & bass without piano Rock and Roll Machine: Edited to tighten transition to the guitar solo and remove the second bridge Knowlton Road: New vocal recorded and remixed My Love is a Rock: Edited to remove four bars from the introduction Medicine Head: Edited to remove two bars from the end of the guitar solo I Stand Corrected: Extensively edited throughout to tighten up between-verse breaks and the second bridge; faded out instead of full ending Aluminum Foil: Edited to remove fifth verse and violin break Grass Skirt: Slightly longer edit than used on the original album Pound Away: New lyrics written (because this album represents all the Knowl-Tones, I made them more generic), new vocals recorded, and remixed
