Lana

Miniature American Eskimo
In 1987 I decided one year was long enough to go without a dog.
So I started doing research on different breeds and came across a book titled
"Harpers Illustrated Handbook of Dogs". There I found a little
creature I fell in love with. The American Eskimo.
What they had to say about this breed is:
An exceptionally alert, robust, companionable dog. Remarkably
intelligent. Playful and eager to please. Normally a one family breed; wary of
strangers. An excellent watchdog. The Eskie enjoys active exercise and
roughhousing. The American Eskimo's keen wit and gentle temperament make it an
excellent, obedient dog. It learns quickly. While playful with children, it will
bark aggressively to announce intruders. The Eskie enjoys cold weather
better than warm, but is adaptable to almost any region. As long as it is
near its family, it will be happy either in an apartment or on a farm
Harpers described Lana to the T! She is an extremely intelligent dog
and is very loyal. She is our official watchdog as well as our playgirl.
She loves to play and roughhouse. She loves being outside, especially when
it's cold. If she had her way she would be with us 24 hours a day
Lana is now 10 years old. It's funny to remember for the first 5 or 6 years
she was a "BOINGING" dog. BOING BOING BOING. Always jumping up and
down and her energy level never seemed to cease. Here's a good example of her
back then:
