The Beta Chapter, often called the Dark Chapter of Beta Kappa Phi Business Fraternity Incorporated was founded on January 23, 1999 at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Eastern Michigan University is special to Beta Kappa Phi because it was the first four year institution to receive a chapter of Beta Kappa Phi. The founding fathers of Beta Chapter belonged to the Alpha Chapter and Graduate Chapters, both located in Detroit, Michigan.
The founding fathers saw an opportunity to create a chapter at a four year college outside of the city of Detroit. The members of the charter line, also known as the Olympian Line were drawn to Beta Kappa Phi because they saw an opportunity to create an organization on campus aimed at helping people succeed in the area of business. The Olympian Line consisted of 8 men from different walks of life to be part of an organization with a common cause: to make better men out of themselves. Beta Chapter did the what many people thought was impossible in 1999. No sooner had the foundation been laid, then 8 more strong and committed brothers made the journey into Beta Land that same semester. Like the members of the Olympians, these 8 men also came from different walks of life with the same common goal: to make better men out of themselves.
