Asimo was developed by the Honda Motor Company and is the first robot in the world that can walk independently and climb stairs. It is 4 foot 3 inches tall so that it will be the right height to not intimidate people sitting in chairs.
Asimo can walk very well because it has 34 degrees of freedom in its joints. It can see because it has two video cameras for eyes and uses stereoscopic vision and vision algorithm. It has a facial recognition feature which allows it to recognize people it has seen before. It has force sensors in its wrists so that it knows how much force to apply when handling objects. Asimo can handle objects so well that it even conducted an orchestra.
