just set the time when you whant the roomba to start vacuming and when its done it goes back to its charging station the roomba has two virtual walls that use infrared beams so it can confine and guide the Roomba from one room to another and then it returns to its Home Base when it is done vacuuming. the roomba can clean carpet and also hardwood floors There is no programing.the Roomba's sensors can figure out the size and shape of the room it continually changes its cleaning pattern until it has covered the whole floor.
