If I try too hard,
Will you search with me,
And help me find myself?
If I fail to understand,
Will you love me still,
And explain things so I grasp?
If I fall down,
Will you pick me up,
And set me back on my feet?
If I cut myself,
Will you cleanse my wounds,
And kiss my pain away?
If I cry,
Will you wipe my tears
With a gentle hand,
And tell me it will be okay?
If I write a poem about you,
Will you understand,
And read it with an open mind?
If I tell you goodbye,
Will you still be there when I wake up,
And be the one to wake me?
If I told you I loved you,
Will you say the same,
And mean what you say?
If I promised you forever,
Will you promise it back to me,
And keep that promise?
If I grow old,
Will you age with me,
And sit by me on rainy days?
If I become sick,
Will you be there to comfort me,
And hold my hand?
If I lay on my death bed,
Will you lay there with me,
And forbid my fears to withhold me?
If I died today, tomorrow, fifty years from now,
Will you be the last face I see,
And die along with me?
