About the Gardener

My Perennial Garden is 11 years old. It started with
7 Perennials and that was all I had when I took
the Master Gardener class in 1996 since then I
collected more than a hundred perennials, a few
grasses, many shrubs, and trees, and a few small Conifers.

Some of the trees planted include Cannan Fir- Silver

many Serviceberry-River Birch-Forest Pansy Red
Bud-Chamaecyparis- Chinese Fringe-Dogwoods-Harry
Lauder's Walking Sitck-Tri Color Beech-Kentucky
Coffee Tree- Heptacodium- Golden Rain Tree- Little
Leaf Linden-Magonlias-Metasequoia's-
Serbian Spruce-Bristle Cone Pine-Cherry-Pear-
Apple- Peach-Ivory Silk Lilac's-Weeping Bald
Cypress-Thujopsis-Canadian Hemlock-etc.

My collection of Hostas started about a year later
in 1995, it has grown to about 200 varieties of Hostas,
As you enter the back yard you will walk down the “Primrose Lane”
see Primroses and Hostas. Then you will pass Saint Fiacre
(the patron saint of Gardening) with more Hostas
scattered through the garden beds. Then you come
to the "Martha Stewart Bench Area" with the Blue Hosta Bed
in the center of the Limbed up Lilac Tree you will see my new “Inspirational Area”
This is a nice sitting area where I can see what’s growing,
what needs changing and where I can relax and nourish the soul,
Come and spend the day in the “Day Garden” have some
refreshments. . . sit a spell and watch the
Hummingbirds or the Woodchucks,go by. Pray there are no Rabbits.
