Trilby 'Trilby'

'Trilby' has nice flowers, but the plant and flower buds do not do well here, even against the north wall. As I type this, I just thought that maybe 'Trilby' needs more sunlight during the growing season, to harden off for the winter. The only flowers, the ones you see here, were from buds which lay on the ground, covered by winter snow to keep them warm. The rest blasted, and the foliage always looks bad by spring. The books all say that 'Trilby' takes a lot of sun. I'll have to move this one. I purchased this plant at Builder's Square, Summer 1999.

UPDATE May, 2001: After I decided that 'Trilby' is my worst plant, someone from the rhododendron club finally took this one across the state to Muskegon or Kalamazoo. The further the better. Now that I got rid of this one, 'Anah Kruschke' is my worst rhododendron.
