Janet Blair 'Janet Blair'

'Janet Blair' is one of the nicest plants I have. I'll have to take a better photograph of it in flower this year. 'Janet Blair' seems to be perfectly hardy here, and everything else about it is just great. The plant habit is compact, and the foliage is similar to that of 'Scintillation.' The flowers are very large, seven-lobed, and fragrant.

In 1998 and 1999, many garden centers in the Detroit area had plants labelled 'Janet Blair' which were probably 'Maximum Roseum,' a cultivar which doesn't compare. The only place I've seen the real 'Janet Blair' for sale was where I got it in 1999, our ARS Ann Arbor chapter's plant sale. If you're looking for 'Janet Blair,' don't settle for anything less than what I've described above.
