    We should be lovers
    We can't do that
We should be lovers, and that's a fact.

Though nothing will keep us together
We could steal time just for one day
We could be heroes, forever and ever
We could be heros just for one day.

    Ultimately Doomed

I can't fall in love with anyone,
I make men believe what they want to believe.

    Come What May

I will love you until my dying day

You're gonna be bad for business, I can tell.

I believe in truth, freedom, and above all things; Love.

He entered a world where fantasy is real,
where he could be anything he wanted,
    and where he would discover
the most dangerous temptation of all

  • Make Christian believe you don't love him.
  • He'll fight for me.
  • Hurt him. Hurt him to save him.

    GENERAL SURGEON'S WARNING:

Never fall in love with a woman who sells herself,
    it always ends bad.

    DIAMONDS
    are a girl's best friend.

"Takings risks in the performance of a lifetime -- she sings, she dances, she dies."

"The film dances, the heart sings. It transcends speech with song, allowing the soul to soar."

This is a story about Love at the Moulin Rouge.

    Moulin Rouge

Christian [Ewan McGregor], a young writer with a magical gift for poetry,
defies his bourgeois father by moving to the bohemian underworld of
Montmartre, Paris. He is taken in by the absinthe- soaked artist
Toulouse- Lautrec, whose party- hard life centres around the Moulin Rouge,
a world of sex, drugs, electricity & the shocking Can-Can. Christian falls
into a passionate but ultimately doomed love affair with Satine, the
Sparkling Diamond [Nicole Kidman], the most beautiful courtesan in Paris
& star of the Moulin Rouge.

    CHRISTIAN
    He's handsome, he's a poet,
    he's a genius! What's not to
    like about that?

The underlying myth in 'Moulin Rouge' is the myth of Orpheus.
It is a simple, even naïve story based on a primary myth is set in a
heightened or created world that is at once familiar yet exotic, distant.

In 'Moulin Rouge' music and song is the device that releases us from a naturalistic world.
