So who is she?
To begin, she’s a young woman from America, 18 years old and from a small town in Michigan. She’s what most people would describe as “wild” around other people- the life of the party or class or wherever she is, the clown, the nice girl, the perfect friend. She loves to do things that most wouldn’t expect of her, and she’s done quite well recently keeping up that end of her reputation ;-). Recently graduated from high school, she is excited and apprehensive about the finale of one era of her life and the opening act of the next.
On the subject of school, she’s- mildly stated- a perfectionist. Second in her class (which made her cry for days because she wasn’t the “best”), she worked tirelessly and intensely all through her four years. So many were jealous of her grades and her intelligence, but she never quite saw herself as anything spectacular- there was always room for improvement. If a teacher didn’t exalt her with praises, she felt incompetent and worthless, so she’d kill herself trying to make it up to the instructor. If she didn’t get enough awards at the annual banquet, she’d be depressed for days.
Her strongpoint and her passion is music. She plays many different instruments and never gets tired of learning something new when it comes to the fine arts. She went to many summer camps and studied with some great teachers, and many say that she is a genius, yet she doesn’t believe she’s any better than anyone else. Majoring in music in the fall, she can’t wait to live, eat and breathe it. She also owns hundreds of cds, and her favorite artists include: Tori Amos (The absolute best!!!!), Sarah McLachlin, Fiona Apple, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Cake, Alanis Morrisette, Staind, Nine Inch Nails, and Sublime. There are many more, but she’s tired right now and she can’t remember them all… ;-)
As for little things… hmmm, well, she has a navel piercing and a tattoo of a treble clef on her lower back. She has a boyfriend who is the most caring, understanding person on earth. She loves driving anywhere and everywhere and she’s probably addicted to shopping and nicotine. Diagnosed with depression a year and a half ago, she’s had it rough, but she’s trying, even though she can’t imagine herself living in ten years. But she’s trying. Every day is a victory, every smile is fake, every minute is a battle.
So who is she? She is the person who walks past you on the street or stands in line next to you at McDonald’s. She is your best friend or your daughter. She is not someone you would expect, she is the last person you’d expect… “She” is me, and I am not your typical, run-of-the-mill crazy person. I am seemingly normal, I don’t live in an institution, I don’t have “” stamped on my forehead. I’m just a human being, a girl, a goody-goody with an edge. I’m just another person trying to find her way.
