IT HAS INDEED been a while since I last updated the commentary section. I do apologize for that. What's been going on...not much. I have recently given thought to retiring this gimmick; but then a Falls Count Anywhere match with my favorite rival, TOMMY TITUS, in Belleville, MI changed my mind. Titus definitely took it too me and kept up with me....and anyone out there saying this young man can't go - he can. He can wrestle basics and he can brawl with the best of them. Our chop fest left me with the worst bruises on my chest in 14 years....impressive since I have been chopped by the BEST --- IRISH BOBBY CLANCY...MAYNARD R. NEKK....and recently KING KALUHA. But Titus takes the cake! We started out on the muddy fairgrounds...fought atop a car...into the ring and out again...into the stands and onto the gimmick tables before Titus superkicked a chair into my face and pinned me. Good times. 2005/2006 has been the year for good matches - TOMMY TITUS and JUSTIN RHODES/HOSS MONAHAN...two guys I never fail to have good matches with. It was nice to see KOKO WARE again in Belleville as well. For those asking, I am still with Blue Water Championship Wrestling and hopefully the promoters there have some good things in store.
Thus far the summer seems slow - as always. Dave DuPonte will be making appearanes in World 1(July 22 in Bay City) and LWA July 15.
RIP to BIG JOHN TENTA...aka EARTHQUAKE....having lost his battle with cancer. Back in my early tape trading days I used to get tapes from Vancouver with Earthquake on them. Condolences to his family and friends.
I am not really into the ECW project the WWE is doing. Thus far, the first two shows only tell us that "ECW" will not be a seperate entity. The fact that EVERY main event so far has featured WWE vs ECW is lame. The "ECW Vixen" stuff is garbage...no way can "Kelly" match a FRANCINE, a BELUAH or KIMONA. The whole stripping segment smacks of extreme cheesiness. THE SANDMAN coming out to a lame song and just basically beating people up in less than 3 or 4 cane shots is a waste of time. As far as the rest of the roster...I have never been a big JUSTIN CREDIBLE, TONY MAMALUKE, DANNY DORING OR ROADKILL fan. Rather, I would prefer to see CW ANDERSON, MIKE AWESOME, MASATO TANAKA or how about a defiant SHANE DOUGLAS ranting against the WWE(wouldn;t that make this whole WWE vs ECW thing better?). As of now, TNA far and away blows away the "new" ECW. With TNA now acquring the ultra-talented JAMES E CORNETTE - the sky is the limit. Hopefully, they get some ideas from Jim,...and God, please GOD let us see another MIDNIGHT EXPRESS run. I got a chance to see The Midnights on the 409 Reunion against THE ARMSTRONGS and it was awesome. Another WWE subject....a 5 foot something masked guy - REY MISTERIO is now "World" champion...and yet the past few weeks have seen nothing but job after job after job after job. I think in the past several weeks his only win was against JBL, while jobbing to KHALI, KURT ANGLE, and RVD among others. For Rey's title reign to be viewed serious and not just as a sympathetic gesture...how about giving the man a little credibility? He couldn't even beat MARK HENRY without an assist. Saw NACHO LIBRE with the kids Sunday on Father's Day....good....not great...not falling down laughing good...but it was decent. Interesting to note that his rival in the flick, "RAMSES" is played by non other than - SILVER KING! So that was pretty cool...and my kids enjoyed it as well. Now, I am awaiting SUPERMAN RETURNS...that should rock.
Finally - yet another promotion is doing this HALL OF FAME stuff. The only thing I want to say to that...is for a Hall of Fame to be a Hall of Fame - there needs to be real legends and veterans in there. Basically - a Hall of Famer should at least have 15-20 years in the business - or be a fixture....THE OUTLAWS(Woody Lee and Bobby Lee) - a tag team legend in Michigan...LOS RUDOS(Ricco & Tommy Wonder)..etc...get the picture? IRSIH MICKEY DOYLE, MAN MOUNTAIN LANCASTER, SCOTT D'AMORE, etc.). Nothing sucks more than throwing guys into a "Hall of Fame" just to have people in there.
