This section of the site is devoted to all those Harry Potter trinkets and toys that have been released, especially those as tie-ins with the movies.
The first official -- that is, Warner Bros.-approved -- merchandise appeared in fall 2000, more than one year before the opening of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Some of the initial items were Hogwarts clothing, keychains and caps. Games, figurines and stuffed toys followed.
The official licensing agent for all items is Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products. Despite some products being put in the bargain bin in the last half of 2001, Warner is continuing to line up stuff for the HP sequels in 2002 and possibly 2003. Look for lots of discounts now on Sorcerer's Stone items, as The Chamber of Secrets becomes the focus in 2002.
Having items out six months to a year before each movie kept the film series constantly in young people's minds. Not surprisingly, the target market for these items is about ages 8 to 12. There are few things that could really appeal to an adult. However, some of this stuff carries a price more for the adult wallet, such as items at the FAO Schwarz toy store.
This section is straightforward and simple.
Follow each of the links below to a general category of items. Each entry has images of the product and description, manufacturer name (if available) and suggested retail price (if known).
Note #1: This section is not a store! It is only a gallery of licensed products. At the bottom of this page I give suggested sites for shopping (I don't get paid anything for these recommendations, either; it's just where I saw the products).
Note #2: These products are primarily for the United States market, though many can be found in the United Kingdom, as I discovered in Web surfing. Usually foreign-market items are labeled Harry Potter and the PHILOSOPHER'S Stone or this title in another language. The decision was made to mix products confined to the UK market with US ones because of the common language. UK stuff is clearly labeled as such. All prices are given in US dollars (and UK pounds if the products are British). A Foreign Markets section displays non-US items sold on a regional scale, such as Europe. They may include items sold in the UK, but not exclusively there.
NEW FOR 2002: The Harry Potter Products News will be regularly updated with announcements of items either hitting the market or under development for the movie sequels. Newest tidbits are always at the top.
WANTED: More information on non-United States Harry Potter products. If you live in a foreign country and have visited this site, I am interested in hearing about Harry Potter products in your nation and/or photos. If you have anything to pass along, do not hesitate to send me an owl.

Foreign Markets (non-US/UK). NEW SECTION! These are licensed Harry Potter products sold in nations other than the United States and United Kingdom. This section is a testament to Harry's worldwide appeal and fame. NOTE: This is some overlap with UK products in galleries above, as some of these items were sold there. However, products here are regional (such as Europe and Asia), as opposed to just the United Kingdom, such as Philosopher's Stone calendars written in English.

Places to get Harry Potter merchandise:
eToys was a good site, but it died off during the big "dot-com" failure wave in 1999-2000. But now it's back and selling again, revived by the company that bought its assets, KB Kids.
Amazon. The biggest online bookseller also operates Toys 'R Us' Internet site. Books, school supplies, board and card games, action figures, videogames dominate the shopping here.
Yahoo! Shopping. Links to numerous online catalogs. Mainly toys, collectibles and bed linens.
FAO Schwarz. Fancy toys, kid bedroom furniture and collectibles for the wealthy Harry Potter fan, or one who wants to really stretch their budget.
JCPenney. The department store that strongly emphasizes its clothing and housewares collections has numerous shirts, backpacks, hats and other apparel.
Barnes & Noble. This major bookseller has books, school supplies, collectible figurines, calendars.
Borders. Another bookstore chain, but now it's part of the Amazon empire.
KB Toys. Discount toy chain now has licensed Harry Potter things and seems to have completely dropped the knock-off "wizard" rubbish. The parent company of eToys above.
Kmart. Very, very few HP things currently at the Blue Light; just J.K. Rowling's books and a few toys.
Wal-Mart. The discount department store giant had more things at Christmas 2001, but still carries a few HP items.
Sylvan Lane Shoppe. A very good vendor of Harry Potter products! Based in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts. All the Enesco stones, numerous collectibles, wide line of View-Masters and slides, games, miscellaneous toys, puzzles.
The Harry Potter Wizard Store. A great all-Harry site has clothing, toys, collectibles, games, plushes, school supplies, clocks and watches, drinking glasses and many collectibles. Boasts over 700 products and based in Santa Monica, California.
Warner Bros. There are now toys, clothing and figurines for sale actually on this site, as opposed to the old practice of jumping to Amazon/Toys 'R Us.
